Vlad Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 From freedom to a prison, Sitting, staring into space. Seven hours of each day- And nothing worth my time. People preaching, Teachers teaching, But I ignore them all. Math and Science, History and Band. Over and over, Again each day. But those seven hours Aren't nearly enough For they send me home- With more work to do I refuse, I quit. I deny their right to this. They can't. My mind is my power. But they drag me back, With the force of brutes Destroying knowledge.
DL_Snake Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Feeling rebellious eh Vlad? hehehe You remind me of Calvin in the Comic Strip Calvin and Hobbes =) However, I want to make a point: I absolutely agree with yas!
Rhapsody Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 Lemme guess. Has school started for you too? As a high school senior taking 4 AP courses and 0 hour, I totally agree. Math and Science, History and Band. Over and over, Again each day. This line perfectly, but simply, captures the monotony of each day. Destroying knowledge. True friend. I'm of the opinion that students who want to be competitive are so swamped by school work that they lose in other categories. Sleep, for instance. But seriously, all this academic work is stifling the creative spirit in a very fragile time in our lives. As adolescents, our bodies and perception of ourselves and the world around us are constantly changing. This is the perfect time for creativity, but they take that away from us with all the academic work. Even music, art, theatre, and athletic programs don't give that much freedom. Bah, am rambling again. Lovely work, if tinged with bitterness. Keep it up!
Parmenion Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Thoroughly enjoyable - I hated having to go back to school!!
