Vincent Silver Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Why do we write? What comple this words from our soul? Words bright as day, dark as night. Are they there to fill a hole In our hearts,in our mind. To prove we can, To make us shine? Why do we write? The word from heart to pen To make a smile, make a wond mend? Is it a game? Fun thrown down in the guise of deep words? Are we just trying to impress the mindless herds? We write because we can. We wrtie to move our hand, To mourn,to smile. And all in between. We write to say what we mean. ~~~
whynotsin Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 Great job, I’ve been writing and re-rewriting a poem about just the same thing I can never find a collection of letters to satisfy me. This poem expresses what I could not, Thanks Vincent
Vlad Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 To make a smile, make a wond mend? do you mean wound? This poem is deep, I really like it. I often ask my self the same question, but can never find a satisfactory answer. Keep it up, Vince.
Quincunx Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 "We write to move our hand". . .Simple one-syllable words. . . A phrase I have never encountered before--an image of writing and leaving one's mark and sweeping one's hand all at once-- This is an original and memorable line. The entire poem is good, getting more focused in the final stanza, but it is that line that'll make me remember your work.
