smallscale_mind_games Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 (edited) I am so ashamed of myself for writing this. ^^ Forget-me-not Picking my way about a summer field Plucking up tiny blue flowers Offering them to you, a childlike boquet Forget me not Smiling with innocence, looking in my sewing drawer Cutting a blue thread Watching the ends fray I wind it around your index finger Forget me not Gazing with the kind of love allowed only to the very young I drink in the light of your blue eyes Leaning forward Whispering in your ear "Forget me not." Nobody of Consequence Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Do _not_ feel ashamed - some of the greatest poets to have written in English made their reputations doing soppy stuff. Though, I gather you're being tongue-in-cheek, in which case, err .... nevermind I especially liked the concept in the final stanza, about gazing in the way only the very young do. I took this to mean that love made the narrator feel very young, innocent, really nice way to achieve that image, too, might I say. You do gooey very well
Ayshela Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 This is, unreservedly, beautiful. i truly hope you're not honestly ashamed of having written it.
Sorciere Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Very touching, so simple and gentle, yet so full of wonder. I really like it.
Illianna Wolfsong Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 I enjoy the constance of the color blue. It becomes a symbol in itself to "forget me not". Very nice.
Parmenion Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 /me gives smallscale_mind_games a little blue teddy as a reward for such a nice little poem. forget me not...

Erm... good poem and stuff like that... I'm still stuck on those damned Turkish Bath Houses... Vance... disturbed me.
Cerulean Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Being named Cerulean, I'm predisposed to enjoy anything involving the colour blue lol - but this was a nicely felt, gentle piece. Thanks for posting, C.
