DoomGaze Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 Cruelty of Love ==================== Love is such a weird emotion, Never knowing when it is going to strike next. It requires so much devotion, Just to see yourself so hexed. What would ever happen to me, If I found myself in Love again? Will this just be another memory, Or will it be real, better than it has ever been? Only time will tell, Maybe not today or maybe not even tomorrow. But patience is also in this game as well, Wait, wait, till happiness fills the sorrow.
Peredhil Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 I'm not sure I can give a good response to this, except to say I think it well done. You raise some issues, but then provide your own answers - patience, persistence, looking to the future and being willing to face it. I think this is a pretty wise poem.
Tasslehoff Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Tell you what Jeff, as we have talked before, many times on the topic of love and the horrors it brings along with it, I will repaeat myself.. One just has to wait.. It will come.. Crud, it smacked me right in the head so hard just recently.. I like the poem a lot though, it shows how easy one can answer there own questions, but still want a better answer.
gjunon Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 not nessisarily a better answer but another one indeed or maybe a shoulder to lean on ? ahh where is that going lol great poem
Blonde_Chick2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 im new here and i don't exactly have much expeirience with poems but i think this is an interesting poem
Vigil StarGazer Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 (edited) Wait? tsk tsk tsk... To just sit there and wait persumes that there must be someone there that's meant for you and she will eveuntually come to you becase it is fated... it's like this little faerie tale about god creating a person with 2 heads, 4 arms, and 4 legs and they walk funny so God send a lightning bolt and split the person in half... and in doing so each half spend their whole life time looking for their other half... Illianna Wolfsong Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 What is it to love and be loved? A question unanswered since the first star was born. How do I find it and will it last? Tis wiser to ask the ocean to hold back her tides. Man can love for the sake of thrill Or man can love for the sake of his beloved. Perhaps it is better to ask Why do I seek love, and what must it give me? If happiness is your sought flower Then romance will neither nourish nor seek it out. The cruelty of love is that it will come But only to one who is happy in it's absence. When love becomes woven into your soul's fabric When you do not need the admiration of another Then you become coveted to love But is it not easier to ask the ocean to hold back her tides?
Peredhil Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 This is beginning to point out a need for definitions. In programming, you overload operators to perform multiple functions. In language, people tend to do the same thing. Love: which kind? emotional? physical? friendship relational? mutual benefit contractual? spiritual? Intimacy? sexually charged? All these are subtly different to me... as different as spectrums of light through my internal prism. Such an overused word...
Nobody of Consequence Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 You forgot one, Peredhil: love of icecream
Alaeha Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 I agree... People use Love to mean so many things... Lust, Romantic Love, Sibling Love, Friendly Love, Infatuation (Crush), A Strong Liking Toward or Preference For... I'm sure there's more, but I haven't yet been awake for more than maybe 30 minutes, so I'm not at my best.
