Well now...

If you're an elf, you'll be expected to whip out the fully coordinated pronunciation--

Mehreylas-- tiny, miniscule roll of the "r" and the "ey" is very lightly said... en'Belluh

If you're not an elf, you can simply pronounce it thus:

Mare(as in the horse)-eh(as in the Canadian "huh")-lass en-Bell-uh.

-Merelas en'Bella...

P.S.-- I knew how to say Gyr's name... lol

I'll chime in here, though I have heard and have accepted various pronunciations of my name.

4 syllables:

Ill (as in illness) e (long E) AH (open up and show those tonsils) nuh (very short almost interrupted-sounding syllable here on the end)

So... Ill-e-AH-nuh... emphasis on the first a.

Illi also works... so does Illy. Both rhyme with silly.

If all else fails, call me mom.

-Illi

Might as well toss in pronunciation for Jirah... since it's pretty much a guarantee that at least 90% of us are mispronouncing it. It's just a tricky name...

The J is the catch... I imagine it as sort of a "zh" sound, as opposed to an sh sound, which is to say that it's sort of an unaspirated, unstressed sh sound. The stress goes onto the ee sound that follows it.

Therefore, given that, the pronunciation is as follows: zh-EE-ruh Vehl-see-r

... if that makes any sense. If you can't get the hang of his first name, then you can pronounce it Jeer-uh. (and no, the jeer is not a false alarm this time... :P)

nah, better be careful with calling "Mom" around here, it's as likely to have heads turning as it is in a grocery store.. LOL
