The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

Cut off from the rest of life,

Being blind by your lonesome,

Can't really call yourself alive,

But not wishing you were dead,

The blind man is the only one,

Who can look out at the lands,

And speak truly from his heart,

"I am the master of all that I see."

Creeping into the darkness, hiding.

Hiding through shadows between light,

Lighting up faces around the planet, our home.

Humming a tune to make days brighter,

From your own little prison, in your own little mind.

I like this poem a lot...

"I am the master of all that I see." Quite a line... Particularly in that context. I really liked "Cut off from the rest of life" too.

Hmm... What more can I say than that? It's quite good... Writing poetry is a bit like gambling... You don't know what you're going to get. It might be good, it might be bad, but once you start, it's really hard to stop.

Anyway, I'll give the thread to whoever's next in line.

*nod*

that bit caught me as well.

Quite thought provoking. How blind might the rest of us be, if we only knew we were?

i like this.

There does seem to be a bit of a transition missing between the first verse and the second. Either that or my headache is taking even more of a toll than i thought. :) Why creeping? Why hiding? It seems like there's more here that we're not allowed to see ourselves, which makes the second verse seem slightly disconnected. The end line does tie it in again, in equally thought provoking manner, but the mild confusion remains.

i like this. i'm not sure at the moment i even could pin down exactly why, or if i could if it would even matter. :)
