Chanz
You always had fun, I looked up to you, I'll never be able to see you again, I just want it to not be true. I remember that night in the unit, When we were watching the video, You reached out and held my hand, And I didn't want to let it go. Or that time you talked to the roof, You called it DR. Phil, I made you laugh so hard that you cried, I didn't even realise that you were ill. When you were driving in town- You turned the music up really loud, I never thought i'd play that song at your funeral, In front of a crying crowd. It's too hard to accept, That it was you lying on the bed, So motionless, The image will never leave my head. You always cared for me, You held me so tight, I wish I could turn back time, So that you'd still be here, in my sight. Why was your life cut so short, Why did God choose you? You had so much to live for, There are so many things you will never get to do. There is something that I must say, Something I must do, I was too much of a coward at the hospital, But I wanted to say 'Thankyou.' No matter what happens, I will never forget, How good of a mum you were, Since the day we met. There is only one thing I regret, Something that I should've said, I should've said 'Goodbye' to you, While you were lifeless in that bed. Thank you for the moments we shared, In the short time we had, You shall never be forgotten, And i'll be forever glad. You used to be a person, Now your an angelic spirit, Watching us from up in heaven, helping us when we need it.
wyldpatienz
Very nicely done. This is a wonderful tribute to your mother. Words are the most powerful thing on this earth, its what links us together and creates what we call "humanity." I'm sure your mother knows how you feel and though it looks like I'm the first to comment on your piece, I think your mother read it way before I did. Tralla
They really are there, watching and caring, Chanz. She knew how much you loved her and were grateful. Moms know. =) A beautiful poem.
Ozymandias
With what Tralla and wyldpatienz have already said, I can only applaud. Well done, and swift healing. It sounds like God has already blessed you well in many ways.
Gwaihir
a powerful and well written poem. When I found myself thinking about this poem hours after I read it, I decided that I should tell you how much I was affected by it.
Salinye
Chanz~ I loved this poem. I loved the raw, real sentiments within your words. As I read it a poem I have saved on my computer came to mind, I wanted to share it with you, is that alright? I did not write it, and it was written more for the comfort of parents then the children of parents, but I felt the desire to share it with you anyway. Thank you for sharing your poem, and all my hugs go out to you that you may be comforted. ~Salinye To All Parents by Edgar Guest "I'll lend you for a little time a child of Mine," He said. "For you to love the while she lives And mourn for when she's dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty two or three, But will you, till I call her back, Take care of her for Me? She'll bring her charms to gladden you, And shall her stay be brief, You'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked the wide world over In my search for teachers true And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes I have selected you. Now will you give her all your love, Nor think the labor vain, Nor hate me when I come to call to take her back again? I fancied that I heard them say: "Dear Lord, Thy will be done! For all the joy thy child shall bring, The risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may, And for the happiness we've known Forever grateful stay; But shall the angels call for her much sooner than we've planned We'll brave the bitter grief that comes And try to understand.
