The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

Spread your wings my broken dove

Of shattered glass composed

The fragments sharp, contorted art

Entice forgotten woes

Raise your beak my little love

A twisted metal snare

To sing the tune, distorted loon

Spite screeches in the air

Turn your eyes forsaken one

Those melted crimson beads

Of plastic worn, embedded scorn

And artificial needs

Lift a claw you tattered bird

Barbed wire's twisted form

To cut and scrape, to mutilate

To nourish hungry worm

Take flight, O wretched winged hope!

These hands that bled and built

Shall watch your ghastly form soar high

While trembling with guilt

Yet efforts wrought and endless shame

Stop not the scalding sun

And faith rebuilt with horrid guilt

Becomes Icarus

Undone.

*stands, cheers, claps and stomps her feet*

I love the rhythm, and the internal rhyme in each stanza. And the imagery... Oooh. Great. Woo. Hm, what else... Ah, I'll leave else to others.

Despite this poems failure to make it onto the Pen Recomends list Mira, is totally amazed at the subtile power displayed here. "Some people just don't get great poetry", he mutters shaking his head, and at that moment an idea pops into his mind. Quickly, when no one is looking, he adds this beautiful poem onto the Super Secret Mira Recomends List

I'm pretty sure the people voting 'no' were using Almost Draconic Web-Browser and were actually trying to vote 'yes'. What goes around comes around... x_X

Wow, that is really awesome. Great job Wyvern.

I remember when I was thinking about writing a poem or perhaps a song about Icarus, but at the time, it didn't fit into what I wanted to write. And I can honestly say, I don't have to attempt one now, because you already crafted a great piece.

Uhg, I wish I would have read this before the voting was over. It's one of the finest pieces of poetry I've read.

Kudos to you, sir almost dragon,
