Justin Silverblade Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 (edited) ~~I liked writing it, hope you like reading it. Enjoy!~~ What Will Tomorrow Bring? What will tomorrow bring? An end to doubt; The all powerful Unknowing, To which I am but a servant? Will it carry on its back, The end to all my suffering? It can, if I will it so, And ride into tomorrow, With the steed of courage, And wield the blade of faith. What would tomorrow bring? An end to yesterday, The torturous, splendid Knowing, To which I am a patron? Will it clutch in its hand, The end to all my sanctuary? It can, if I will it so, And ride into tomorrow. But do I will it as my command? A blind mount is my mare, Not a shining stallion. Faith’s edge is sharp, double edged. It reaps the blood of luck, Assurance, and eternal hesitation, And commands my force to fate. Dare I? Must I? What could tomorrow bring? If I will it not, And sleep to former times, Shall it disappear to yesteryear? Or perhaps a mirror of today: When I walked wisely, With shoes of silence, And a coat against the wind. As I drift back to my thought, Of tomorrow’s hero I look at my meekly weapon, And think perhaps with sorrow: Tomorrow’s best seen, With uncomfortable shoes, And a coat against the wind. ~~For those interested, thoughts, analyzation, and development can be seen in the Writer's Workshop here.~~ - Justin Edited March 16, 2003 by Justin Silverblade
Scarlett O'Harpy Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Thanks for posting this Justin - I enjoyed the read. It was also good to see how it evolved from your explanations in the WW. My favourite lines are: When I walked wisely, With shoes of silence, And a coat against the wind. I like that little section a great deal. I think it conveys much, with understatement and economy. Food for thought. Harpy.
whynotsin Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Makes me think beyond the moment.. darn you.
Zariah Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 I really like how you conveyed your poem and meaning through questions. It is in an appealling form, and your choice of language flavors the intesity. Wonderful!
Rune Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Wow, excellent use of techniques to add even more meaning to the poem through analysis. (analysis is such a splendid word, dont you think? I think its the sis on the end.. although it could be the ana at the front) So many wonder parts to this poem. Its like an epic, I kind of read it on the edge of my seat. So much symbolism.. *faints* Amazing.
