Elwen Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 As I stand here in the shadows Waiting for those who will call my name And bring me from the shadows I stand here so alone Chorus- Somewhere, out there, all alone I’m dancing under a streetlight Waiting for a car to stop, a star to fall Waiting for someone who can change my life I dance in the shadows, I dance in the light Forever frozen in these steps I’m stuck here, I can’t go anywhere Waiting for someone, waiting for someone Repeat Chorus I can’t go anywhere I can’t go back, I can’t go forward I can’t go anywhere, I can’t go anywhere I can’t go back, I can’t go forward, I can’t go anywhere Repeat Chorus Trapped within a dream, a prison of my making Searching for my own way out The walls are closing in on me And I don’t know the shape inside my skin Repeat Chorus I can’t go anywhere (I’m trapped within) I can’t go back, I can’t go forward (I don’t know the shape inside my skin) I’ve lost the heart of the creature called ‘me’ (What have I lost in Time’s ebb and flow) I’ve lost my way, and shadows dance pain (Can anyone help me?) Waiting for a star to fall (Waiting for someone who can change my life) Repeat Chorus 2x
The Portrait of Zool Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 That's absolutely beautiful Elwin. That reminds me of a song I heard long ago. It has eased my loneliness, perhaps you will resonate with it's echoing sentiment as well. Question By the Moody Blues Why do we never get an answer When we're knocking at the door With a thousand million questions About hate and death and war? 'Cause when we stop and look around us There is nothing that we need In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed Why do we never get an answer When we're knocking at the door Because the truth is hard to swallow That's what the war of love is for It's not the way that you say it When you do those things to me It's more the way that you mean it When you tell me what will be And when you stop and think about it You won't believe it's true That all the love you've been giving Has all been meant for you I'm looking for someone to change my life I'm looking for a miracle in my life And if you could see what it's done to me To lose the love I knew Could safely lead me through Between the silence of the mountains And the crashing of the sea There lies a land I once lived in And she's waiting there for me But in the grey of the morning My mind becomes confused Between the dead and the sleeping And the road that I must choose I'm looking for someone to change my life I'm looking for a miracle in my life And if you could see what it's done to me To lose the love I knew Could safely lead me to The land that I once knew To learn as we grow old The secrets of our soul It's not the way that you say it when you do those things to me It's more the way you really mean it when you tell me what will be Why do we never get an answer When we're knocking at the door With a thousand million questions About hate and death and war 'Cause when we stop and look around us There is nothing that we need In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed Why do we never get an answer When we're knocking at the door
Peredhil Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Wow, how did I miss this? That's achingly beautiful, but to me at this side of life, very sad. If you wait for others to fulfil or free you, you hold yourself in bondage to others... The seed knows the way to grow, and what it will become. Give up fear, and dare to grow as your heart calls you. -Peredhil
whynotsin Posted March 9, 2003 Report Posted March 9, 2003 Your song inspired me to write this poem i think it resonates with yours. I'm not that good at giving direct feed back so here. Tonight the moonshines on you Alone on a pedestal you wait For life to sweep you up And take you away Your a single breath from being swept away Hold on tight You can’t run away Grab it by the horns don’t wait Just jump in its always your turn.
SoaringIcarus Posted March 9, 2003 Report Posted March 9, 2003 (As I didn't want to take too many rights in assuming the melody/rhythm/harmony/timbre of this song, I read it as a poem.) I like the musing over the loss of identity in what seems like a rut of a 'mating-call', if I may be so crude. I like the truth in this. -Icarus
Elwen Posted March 17, 2003 Author Report Posted March 17, 2003 *blush* THAT interpretation certaintly did not occur to me.
Rune Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Wonderfully written. There are a few song writers here at the pen and they are all so talented. Thank you for sharing.
