Deadly Nightshade Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 (edited) (By the was it should have said Crystal Tears...not Teard.... Where were the Gods when the Unicorns cried crystal tears from the starry eyed, shed unheralded on distant shores for the destruction of forests, pollution of the ocean floors? Gods that looked away without concern while Earth was raped, her purity spurned with only the crystal tears to mark the demise of her virgin forests, pure oceans and clear skies. While Gods come and go as the wiles of humans evolves created to justify our egos as our morality dissolves, Unicorns stand ever ready by the Goddess' hand to fight to the death in defense of their land. Cling to the crystal tears, keep them ever near for they shall comfort us and protect us from our fear. And when the Gods fade and fail to hear our plight the Mother and her Unicorns will guide us through the night. Edited February 9, 2003 by Deadly Nightshade
Canid Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 I have a question... In the 3rd verse you said that the gods were "created to justify our egos as our morality dissolves" then in the last verse you said "the Mother and her Unicorns will guide us through the night" which I'm assuming for lack of anything else immediately apparent to interpret it as, we are to interpret as the Virgin Mother. Hence I am rather unsure as to whether this last line is supposed to be sarcastic in that we are turning for guidance again to the gods and the unicorns, both of which don't exist and thus cannot guide at all, or whether it is to be taken seriously as what we must do, the two ideas of purity being hidden within us.
HopperWolf Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 very powerful. I love the imagery used. I'd like to hear the answer to Canid's question myself. Though I will say that at the moment I am reading ity as a sarcastic comment. I have heard this debate many times in Philosophy classes but it has to be said that it is put very eloquently here. Given time I'd like to come up with a response to this if I may? :)
Deadly Nightshade Posted February 9, 2003 Author Report Posted February 9, 2003 I ment it as a sarcastic comment... but it is all how reader interprets the poem
HopperWolf Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 I don't know that it would make all that much sense if it was a straight comment. dismissing gods but then trussting in the lady
Deadly Nightshade Posted February 9, 2003 Author Report Posted February 9, 2003 They are not supposed to make sense just as long as there entertaining
HopperWolf Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 wow... that just makes all my work justifiable. doubt any of them make any sense after all, I wrote them and I rarely make sense

Blondemoon Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 not quite on topic, but maybe it is, since there be unicorns in the poem (which I like! Two pengies up as Tassle would say), but is that quote beneath your sig picture from Legend...that movie with a really young Tom Cruise in it? Cause it reminds me of that cool goblin, Blix....
