The Merchant of Venice (A Parody)

Antonio the merchant was a fool

There was no doubt about that

To his friends he was so sweet, so kind

Not too thin, not too fat

To help his lover, a spendthrift

He agreed to a reasonable bond

A few days later, he broke down

When they parted at a pond

Bassanio then wooed Portia

And won her hand easily

Shylock, meanwhile, locked Antonio up

Plotting gleefully

Husband and wife arrived from Belmont

Bellario was with them

Together they tried to bribe Shylock

With money and with ham

"Keep the ham!" roared Shylock

"You know that I hate pork!

You Christians are so disrespectful;

I shall migrate to New York!"

He grabbed the money, twenty thousand ducats

And disappeared from Venice forever

Everyone commented that Antonio was dumb

And that Shylock was real clever.

What a gem. I'm not sure how I missed this at the old site, as I like Shakespeare.

Might want to try changing "about" to "of" - sounded better to my ear, but it's your work!
