Guest Foe Calibur Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 A very revamped version of an old poem ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In Perpetuum Thrice in heaven, thrice in hell, Thrice upon the earth we dwell to rid the land ‘ere ever more, Shade’s betroth’ed, fervid knell. Thrice we stand, thrice we fall, Thrice we kneel once more in thrall to bow before another life, To live once, twice enthralled. Fate in hand, dread in step, Chapter’s written, teardrops wept, all in her name, the name of hope, For her alone, a promise kept. This life we live, this peril endured, Akin to what fate is thus obscured, and hidden from us ever more, ‘Till alas our heavenly state’s assured. Strive we may, strive we might, Strive be rid this baneful plight, but in this confrontation held, No victor found by dreadful rite. Upon the field ‘ere and more, He found his way, a weapon bore, in name of passage swiftly dealt, His foe deceased, the righteous whore. Met nay in brutal bladed kin, But mental strength and credence’ din, a gate of tactful slander loosed; His edged ward, a vex’d chagrin. Def were the ears of opposition, Blocked by mental mal nutrition, force and vice was all his mind, A sorry match, an apt rendition. Lost not will, nor sane accord, Her weird discovered, untoward a fateful plot her soul entwined, She spoke in prayer, he fought with sword. In hour of desperation’s reign, She thrust her heart into the flame, a flame so bold of passions blaze, His acrid throne procures defame. No fear nor woe, her face portrayed, She lay herself upon his blade, but faith profuse, a pledge remembered, A contented smile, her face displayed. His cackle sounded ‘cross the lands, She quivered there with bloodied hands, her own she held, slipped from the blade He kicked her fading mortal brands. Staring down his wetted blade, Her smile content, her pain betrayed, he stabbed again maliciously, And still she lay yet unafraid. Her wounds were fatal, he knew they were, He strode about, he’d not deter, his soul distressed, “She should be dead!” She held her grin without err. Her voice aquake, a hush’ed plight, Broke forth her lips in just recite, “My woeful friend, you have not won, But flesh this husk is slay tonight. “Faith as my guide, truth as my ward, You’ll face no judge, yet thrice abhorred, my kin, my love, and now ‘tis I Have fallen here, our lives ignored. A passing glance to life’s adherence, Rapt in divine perseverance, our souls not lost but forged anew, In name of sanctified coherence.” With that, her lifeless lips converged, A soulless cask, its essence purged; a heartless twitch, her nerves eschewed He stood arride, her final surge. A vindictive aura, his grin malign, His fingers, her hair, intertwined, he twisted there, brought to his face, “I’ll grant you this, you lack no spine. “You sorry wench, you stood no chance, While struck you were, religious trance, you brought my blade upon your breast. No soul divine will take a stance!” As if by cue, her eyes renewed, “I spoke to soon, now ends this feud!” Her hair in hand he beat her face; To no effect, her voice pursued: “Ill will conceived, coerced by vice, My will perceived, you’ll pay the price; thrice, it has been, performed injustice, This corpse you beat is mine, but trice.” Her eyes burned hot, divine control, Her limbs still numb, he’d not extol, “Pompous whore, I’ll make you dead!” Again he set upon his goal. He raised his hand in feral rage, His eyes he closed, struck mortal cage, but none did strike, his eyes he opened, But naught he saw, a deific stage. That he is I, as was before, Lest in a form that I abhor, grotesquely testament the injustice endured, Stand forth, I shall implore. So here you stand, before my eyes, In human cloak, and mortal guise to bring to me my earthly merit, And freedom hence upon reprise…
