The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

I have not written a poem in so long that I was desperate... sorry if this isn't very good.

The trees are leaning in on me.

The leaves are falling joylessly,

And all around the night has dulled my vision of what should be clear.

The night is full of noise that I cannot sense with my human ear.

And yet this place brings comfort that no other setting even breathes.

The smells of rotting wood are sharp but pleasant taking me to ease.

oh ya know what this reminds me of? Hmm, help me out here tolkien fans, my memories not what it used to be...

Well anyway, if you ever read the appendix to lord of the rings, then you might be reminded of the last days of that elf grl (elrond's daugther?) in gladriel's forest after what's-his-name had died ( ara- something...the king of the long lived men or something...) Anyway 'liv' tyler played her in the movie... and i think this poem goes well with that scene...

very nice.

Reverie-

Aragorn, you mean?

Arwen is Elrond's daughter.

*considers the poem* I think it does set the mood for the scene you describe.

*Gyrfalcon applauds* Good poem, Canid! =)

Arwen Undomiel, the evening star, quite right.

I like this poem Canid, especially since I have been writing a few stories for my novel that strangely lacked an emotion I tried to put in, which was this one. I am going to be able to finish the stories now, thanks

Succinct. Conveys a feeling in its completion very eloquently without the use of an excessive ammount of words. Nor does this poem use too few words. This poem is juuuuuuuust write *Boos his own extremely lame pun and lack of eloquence in this response*. At any rate, well done.
