Nyyark Posted July 6, 2002 Report Posted July 6, 2002 (Conversion Confusion, this is actually the second post in this thread) Good riddle, are we supposed to post our guesses?
Gyrfalcon Posted July 7, 2002 Report Posted July 7, 2002 (Conversion Confusion, this is actually the third post in this thread) I know the answer, but I'll refrain from posting it until Bhurin says we should. *bows*
Bhurin Posted July 7, 2002 Report Posted July 7, 2002 (Conversion Confusion, this is actually the original post for this thread) I was writing poems when this came to mind. I'm normally not a very good riddler, so I'm not sure if this is really easy or not. Enjoy. A riddle When you awake to shining dawn, I greet you with a mutual yawn And when the sun is up, the day ahead, The both of us jump out of bed, You go first, I follow suit, An unconditional traitional pursuit. When it’s time to leave you grab your things, I’m always there, behind the scenes. I go and wait for you outside, But we leave together, side by side. Then, on your left, the morning’s light, I’ll follow behind, just to your right. I’ve always preferred wake to the lead, But don’t let my preference mislead, For late at dusk, with sun at back, I go first into the black. And walk you home, till you’re secure, Then whisk about, as though demure. Then go with you back to your bed, But I don’t sleep, I skulk instead. And wait until the morn again, To show my face once more. Amen. What am I? Signed-
Guest Xradion Posted July 7, 2002 Report Posted July 7, 2002 I have not a shadow of a doubt what the answer to this riddle is. Sorry for the shadiness of this response, but I couldn't resist . I'm certain Gyrfalcon knew the answer as well, and I apologize for jumping in while he showed restraint. Yes, I think it is a fairly simple riddle. It would work extremely well in a collection of children's poems and riddles, however. Please don't take that as an insult, as it's meant to be a compliment. I like this a lot. Peredhil Posted July 7, 2002 Report Posted July 7, 2002 Laughs and smacks the punster who's given away the answer so playfully. I like it. Yes, for us it is obvious, but we are wordsmiths. I know a number of people who wouldn't glomp onto the answer. You should write a companion piece about rainbows. Justin Silverblade Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Hmm... I love this riddle. Even though, to us it may seem easy, I think half the fun may be, in actuallity, knowing the answer. It's very well put together, and the idea and description of the 'narrator'/answer is very... cool. Thanks for sharing Bhurin.
Guest Lord Cullyn Posted July 9, 2002 Report Posted July 9, 2002 Though this is very easy, No one else posted a continuance. I am part of a never-ending cycle. Though many people believe I bring the dark, to some, I bring light. I can be either a gift or a burden, a tormentor or an adventure; each person treats me differently. What am I?
