Repentance

There is light in my eyes,

And it’s entered my head,

It’s brought back to life,

What I thought was dead.

You were right without logic,

For it declared you wrong

You’re right with your heart

You were right all along

With a cold metal heart

In watched ships with holes sink

With my cold metal heart

I did nothing but think

Why save what was falling

More efficient to create anew

Why help what was failing

Safer to give up than groom.

But you knew all along

But you knew I was wrong

With darkness inside

And a cold metallic hide

I was wrong.

Now I see the truth in the sky

And I see the ants on the vines

Now I see the Why

And I see the rhymes

The cause was lost like me

But to both you held true

Like me it's now saved

And it’s all thanks to you.

I shunned the dark horse

When I placed my bets

But who rides the pale horse

None other than Death

So please take my hand

And we'll both walk in step

Our cause the most failing of all

No longer practically kept

I think I've figured it out, and I for one, think it is excellent.

All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.

Don't hide in plain sight,

See the darkness in Light

The heart can tell us what is right and what is wrong better than many laws, for what we feel will goern our actions more than any rule might. Eloquent work, an admittion of wrongdoing is seldom as forgiving towards oneself in appearance.

Some people think that emotive judgement is useless from a scientific standpoint. I say that we are fairly evolved creatures, and that simpler creatures do not have emotions as strong as ours. If emotions are an advanced trait, then they must have some evolutionary advantage, and moreover, perhaps are advantageous to a greater understanding and appreciation of the world around us. Then again, there's always the whole "original sin/forbidden fruit" fanatics. And speaking of the bible, I liked the way you made use of death riding the pale horse. Very reminiscent of Revelations. I suppose this poem is a revalation of your own. Nice job!
