Rahsash Geldich Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 A sigh of relief, immense applause Everyone rises as the curtain falls Cheers resounding through the halls, But there will be no curtain calls. Play a character, play your soul Mix who you are around in a bowl. Fend off depression, black as coal And you don't get yourself back whole You got a brand new skin to live in But now the entire world is spinnin' And you just don't seem to be winnin' Not in the present or the has been You want to live, you really do, But you feel as if you've lost the you Thought you were one, but you're two Yourself and the character you slew. So who are you when the curtain falls And the applause is echoing off the walls In you head, an insistent voice drawls "You, yes you, gave up the curtain calls" Edited by: Rahsash Geldich at: 6/4/02 3:01:31 pm
Guest Xradion Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 I like it! The way you make use of the rising and falling of the curtain on the stage is inventive, and the rhyme scheme is well sustained throughout. The theme of the destruction of who we truly are is interesting. We wear so many masks on the stage of life that sometimes, we forget who we truly are, or even forget that we ever had a unique identity. I can't help but hear this as somewhat of a rap, due to the fact that every line rhymes with every other line within a given stanza. Justin Silverblade Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 Wow... my goodness. Rahsash, this was a wonderful, WONDERFUL poem, in my humble opinion. Would you mind horribly if I whisked it away to my more private files (aka copy and pasted it to my hard drive)? Very nice. ~Good work!~
