Guest Adelaide Erindale Posted May 13, 2002 Report Posted May 13, 2002 Winding, Spiraling ever higher Wishing, Dealing with the fire. Flying high above... All other expectations. Graceful as a dove... A King among the nations... Faster, farther, higher, better Never left behind Everyone has to let her; They can't hold her mind. Finally she roars with victory; She thinks the race is won. But a new opponant calls: "We've only just begun." The girl just laughs, She's the best there is. Immune to challenge? She thinks she is. He's right behind her Closing the gap. She sees him drawing near But she only has time to gasp... She starts to crumble, As she watches him closing in. Finally she stumbles, Realising she must give the crown to him. She didn't listen to her mother... She tried to run before she could crawl. You see, vanity destroys us: Pride comes before the fall.
Guest Xradion Posted May 14, 2002 Report Posted May 14, 2002 Pride is indeed the dealiest of the sins when it leads to arrogance and narcissistic vanity...and sleeping in the laurels like the hair will lead the tortoise to victory (sorry this is so cliché, I couldn't think of something better to say). Anyway, nicely done. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Xradion, The Horny Druid, Scholar of the Ancient Arts, Holder of the Eye of Odin.
