Guest Xradion Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 *Part III of "The Lone Dove"* …And I feel the searing silver Pierce through my chest, and I fall to the floor, no longer Able to stand my ground. And I feel faint, my breath Becomes heavy, and all I see Are blurred shades of red As something seeps through My skin, and I draw my last Gasp of air. And suddenly, I am a Squirrel surrounded by Snowy sylvan scenery. As I scurry past A pristine crystalline ravine I am seen by a snow owl, Who swoops down for A bit to eat. And I soar through the air, Never asking who but always Wondering why we must die At the hands of others. I gaze down upon The bosky ground, and I frown as I see A hunter, aiming at me. And once again I feel the Cold kiss of death before My soul flies free to inhabit Another body. And I am transformed into a bear And the hunter is transmogrified Into a gun with eagle eyes And a trigger finger. But this gun, I have seen before, Propped up against an old liquor store With a dead dove lying by the Front door, next to a willow tree. And I know I was once That dove, but now, I get Grizzly as I tear the gun To pieces, and it fires Once again, but I am not afraid, For this time, I am too strong, And I do not fall. Gyrfalcon Posted May 4, 2002 Report Posted May 4, 2002 Whoo. *Gyrfalcon applauds* An excellent three-part poem, Xradion.
reverie Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 (edited) Well Gry, beat to the punch in the Part III, but I agree it is an excellent Poem cycle. Part I Lone Dove Part II As I Walk Through the Valley Again, In part III the experience of death is illustrated, but with instant karmic effects... Actually reminds me of a scene in a Peers Anthony books... Where a squirrel saves the life of a man who had perviously granted the squirrl his last request in his last life... Only this poem evolves more rapidly... hmm, there's something, I wonder if it's allowed to describe a karmic poem in terms of evolution... heh. Well anyway bravo Xradion, bravo... rev...
