Guest Xradion Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 *Part II of "The Lone Dove"* The shadow suddenly sweeps Over the valley like the vulture, Voraciously pursuing its prey. I gaze upwards at faces Made of sheer rock covered With dirt as red As my ancestors’ blood. And I see the physiognomy Of familiar faces fall To the silent shadow creature. The valley is cold now. And arctic winds wind their Way down into the cracks And crevices of the cold earth. Time stands still… …Or so it would seem In this dreamlike state Where white water moves Like newfallen snow. Now nothing moves But the wind and I, Wondering when the world Unfurled the schemes Of pipe dreams of another life. And the valley is pure, Crystalline, structured, ordered. Like an exhibit behind Museum glass, filled with Dead things of the past. And I walk on past The valley, draped in Shadow, longing to return To the chaos of life.
