Gwaihir Posted April 26, 2002 Report Posted April 26, 2002 This One’s For You [White Room] I haven’t been homesick for you in months.. I’m all grown up with a place of my own. And then, your song comes on downstairs, ‘White Room’, (by Cream), and I see you dancing, I see you there, sitting on the washer… Stopping, starting, dancing in slow motion. And every time a note fades out you freeze, For each of their odd chords you have a pose. Then suddenly the chorus stops— You hold perfectly still waiting for it, Then Bam, it strikes up again and you’re off. A quick tempo and a rocking momma. No! No, really I know you’re far away. I don’t see you dancing, just wish I did. Frankly, I’ll never hear that song again, And not picture you there, dancing madly. We always did music as a family. Remembering one nice time we did it: The night before I left for good--for school. Drinking champagne and singing rock music! You said I would never forget that night. Christ were you right! Our family parties. And every time I hear those chords again, In fifty years, when so much time has passed, I’ll see you in that kitchen, dancing. But oh! I guess the thought will bring pain then. I could never listen if you were gone, No one could dance that song the way you did! But that’s stupid, I’ll hear that song again, In fact, damn if I don’t dance when I do!
The Portrait of Zool Posted April 26, 2002 Report Posted April 26, 2002 ~Zool~ Ancient, The Pen is Mightier than the Sword. Bard of Terra, Patron Saint of Aspiring Bards. Elder than dirt, more foolish than a jester, able to trip over the smallest logic in a single step. It's... Oh, you know.
Gyrfalcon Posted April 27, 2002 Report Posted April 27, 2002 *Gyr applauds* A wonderful poem, Gwaihir, though I don't quite understand the love of dancing... Dancing has just never been something I've done.
