Guest Cheye69 Posted October 20, 2001 Report Posted October 20, 2001 Tears of glass, screams of rage Turning shadows darker with the coming age No where to run, no where to hide Decisions now unclear no time to decide Where would all this bloodshed end Since the dawn of time we have lived this sin Killing maiming it is our way An eye for an eye or so they say Needles of pain splintering through my mind Crying, pleading for a peaceful time A time without all the strife and hate A sad day indeed that this has become our fate Recalling a time, long past now it seemed No jeers or shouts or judgments to be screamed Days filled with wonder, happy times year round Nights full of passion, not blood-lust, abound I yearn for a time of not walking with the dead Where sanity rules a clear even head To have emotions ride high with tears of joy Not feeling ripped apart like a madman’s chew-toy Where is the heart that beats in every man To better the world not just the ground where he stands To touch a soul so alike to his own To stop a child’s tears that has wandered too far from home I shall make a stand here and now My brothers and sisters please heed my vow I shall strive to be better than I am To uphold the belief “United We stand”
Peredhil Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I think this, along with one of Wyvern's Poetic Justice pieces, is one of my favorite "9/11" inspired poems. With the media continuing to sing the political tunes of zealotry, frenzy, and any other "willingly give up your rights" song, it is refreshing to be given a call for sanity. You don't have to hurt to fight, nor hate to kill.
