Vlad Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 They joys we all feel, Are never truly lost... As time passes by, We think back to the days, Of love and romance, But now there are ways, To see past the fog. Our minds can be free, Of this veil called age... It rots us away, From what we hold dear, But as we move on, Into a new era here, Hold on to your life. And enjoy the ride. ------------------------------ A poem I wrote for an old friend who e-mailed me with seasonal greetings.
Vlad Posted January 2, 2003 Author Report Posted January 2, 2003 (edited) I just wrote two more for him... ------------------------------- A road extends to the sky, To the gods up high, But it travels both ways, Look down to be dazed, For there are demons behind, Where you, they surely will bind, A choice that is cursed, And a blessing that burst, Do not look away, Nor let your eyes stray, From the path given to you, The only you ever knew, It is a double-edged knife, This blade we call life. ------------------------------ Death rages upon the torrent shore, But there I stand, I will stand no more, I relinquish my post, to the first I see, Why will not life simply let me be? Then you came along, with a slim grin, I could not do it, for it would be a sin, Someone so fresh, young, and alive, My torment, you would never survive! My days have been cruel, unrelenting pain, With another in my place, it is not the same, The only way to be free, to find an overdue end, I had to find you again, for you are my friend. Guest Carlyan the Wise Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Err... this might be a stupid question, but did you know you had two "to find"s in the last stanza of the third poem? Other than that, I liked them. They showed true friendship, and I could tell that you two were close.
