reverie Posted December 31, 2002 Report Posted December 31, 2002 Stand. 31Dec2002. It’s the difference between: My names is…and I AM! The struggle between: I can’t…and I CAN! Why poison the well? In which you dwell. Drinking the milk Of a faith turned frail. Look in the mirror, No, do not look away Accept that the fire Burns up much, in our day. Idols will break And hero’s will waste Mobs will turn fickle And delights will lose taste. But will you let… the bitter fear win. Drowned in a deluge… of those who won’t swim Or will you stand before the waves Beating all back with confindant gaze. Exclaiming a loud. I exist too! Learning in wonder, who really needs who? revery the dreamlost "porcelain, are you wasting away in your skin" (red hot chili peppers) the dream continues...
Guest Carlyan the Wise Posted January 1, 2003 Report Posted January 1, 2003 Hmm... interesting. I liked it.
Vlad Posted January 1, 2003 Report Posted January 1, 2003 It is good, but I can't put my finger on it why... Keep it up rev.
Guest Rezure Posted January 1, 2003 Report Posted January 1, 2003 well, how do you like that? Uplifting AND good. Here's to showing us it can be done, rev.
Vincent Silver Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Happy dosen't work for me....I like depressed
Guest Tamaranis Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Well its mostly uplifting... I like it, it seems all philosophical and stuff. Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s the difference between: My names is…and I AM! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Exclaiming a loud. I exist too! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are some powerful lines. I've always liked statements like these. And on the topic of self-help cards... If at all possible don't say, do. Nothing improves your self-esteem like actually doing something to improve yourself. What that might be depends on you...
Guest crowgirl1126 Posted January 4, 2003 Report Posted January 4, 2003 A great uplift! If only those who felt the opposite could soak this in (heh, I know I'm one of them) This reminds me of a BETTER version of those self help cards: "Now look in the mirror each morning and say, 'I AM A STRONG AND INDEPENDANT WOMAN' three times." "When you are feeling depressed, think of your fondest memory and say 'This is MY day and NOBODY is gonna ruin it for me' " While one could laugh at these techniques, if one could REALLY soak them in and utilize that confidant person inside, they may actually work. So when anyone is feeling low, this could be a great poem to use as an "uplifter" to rejuvinate that part of oneself which is lacking strength to stand up and believe in themselves or even others for that matter. I know I will definately use this. Thank you Reverie.
