Guest Psimon2001 Posted September 17, 2002 Report Posted September 17, 2002 The posting frenzy continues... Neutrality ******** On a white page in white ink is told the tale of white deeds the heroism of the last white knight On a white field of icy snow the champion met his destiny the passing, recorded by sight On a black moonless night upon a black satanic steed came the cold black fiend On a black field of death rode the dark wind the blade it wielded, well keen On a sky filled with rainbows roses covered in the blood of a thousand screaming souls of the wounded On an earth of no colour man drew drew them all in and the great horn of justice was sounded For in the end, we all know no matter which way you go In war there is no victor... save Death.
Wyvern Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Psimon, I like this poem... it's narrated in a simple manner and conveys the ultimate futility of war while at the same time maintaining a steady antithesis between the forces of good and evil. This antithesis of "white" and "black" may also be hinting at another theme of the poem, as it suggests the concept of categorizing all things into ideal categories of good and evil, which is something that is not actually possible in society. I also liked how the only color other then white and black that you mentioned in the poem was red, symbolizing the slaughter of war... Keep up the good work... Guest SaberCoEP Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 I like it.. If only more people would realize the truth of war, then perhaps, there would never be a need for a poem like this.. But alas, that will never come in today's society.. For the end is never seen, always heard and rarely understood.
The Big Pointy One Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 I like this poem, if for no other reason than I'm a follower of the whole neutrality idea (Sorry, descriptive commentary isn't really my strong point. Heh.) Keep it up! BigPointyStick ----------------- The Trenchcoat Monk Wielder of the BPS Companion of Mr.Bunny "Stand ho, varlet! Thou shalt not take mine bunny!"
