Guest Mister Burrofoot Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 (edited) Young Love As the young man by the name of Ryan walked thru the Quad minding his own business, the many couples out-lining the Quad kept distracting the young mans thoughts of school & his future. Pondering the thoughts of one day being loved, Ryan had no other way to feel but unhappiness & bewildered. He had done nothing but what he felt was right, yet each girl slipped thru his hands and left him hanging to a rope frayed and beyond repair. Ryan continued down the Quad but on this one day an unlikely and very confusing thought popped into his head as he passed his good friend Michele. He thought to himself how close they had become and at the point he stopped and realized how truly beautiful she was and how close to his heart she was. Behold, at that same time, an image entered his mind that sent him closer to depths of hell thru an endless tunnel of despair, his name was Mike, her boyfriend of 6 months. Knowing that he could not do anything about this he pushed all thoughts of "us" as in Ryan & Michele out of his mind. Yet he knew that he must tell her, because something strongly urged him in the back of his mind that though it may cause trouble, it is the only best answer. Trying not to think about this any longer, Ryan swiftly walked to his next class hoping History was his cure. As the lunch bell rang, Ryan gradually walked over to the "hang-out" spot. As he got there he laid down his bag and started walking back and forth while trying to configure a speech on how to explain how he felt to Michele. Before he was able to reach happy medium his thoughts were interrupted by the hug he received from the one and the only, Michele. Not wanting to seem weird he hugged back but immediately walked off, knowing that he was going to mess things up. Realizing that this wasn’t the best answer he walked back and asked Michele to take a walk with him. As they walked around the building, Ryan tried to carefully break the news, but after stumbling over way to many words he spit it out. He told her he cared more than just a friend, but he understood that nothing could come of it and just wishes nothing in their friendship will change. Understanding how she felt, they split and went their own ways to be departed for the rest of the day. During dinner, Ryan was extremely quiet and his parents could speculate that something was wrong. Seeing that his plate was only but half finished they new that the young man had a lot on his mind, for only a few things are stronger than the will of a teenagers stomach. Trying to not sound like a teenager, Ryan tried to explain what was going on and how he felt, but the only answer his parents could give was that he was just being a savoir and all that can come of it was pain. Not wanting to hear this he got up and bolted out the door with tears wondering why he just cant just cross the threshold and receive his gift, the love of another. Knowing the only way he can achieve this is that he must break the rules, follow the heart, listen to the soul, and well eventually asking her to be his one, hopefully for many days. As he walked he realized he had to talk to his one friend he knew he could trust, Tickle. Tickle had always been there for him and somehow knew what to say, or what not to say. The next day at school Ryan walked up to Tickle before 1st period and pulled him off to the side. As they stood aside of the crowds of people passing by on their way to class they discussed the possibilities on what could happen, and if it did, the reason it did. After hearing that the possibility of things working out in his favor Ryan headed off to his first period class with the thoughts of Michele right there behind him. Sitting thru his classes Ryan couldn’t do anything but think about Michele, and all it seemingly did was make him even happier, until lunch came around and all seemingly hell broke out. Hearing the words he had wanted to hear so badly the past few days. The words that made his heart sing. Michele had felt the same way just recently but was lost and didn’t know what to do. To Ryan it seemed she was trying to *play the fields* but he just couldn’t believe that she would do that. His heart just told him that she was a better person, and so for the rest of the day he thought of what to do and how to go about it. He was pretty sure what he must do and well went about it for many a days. He did any and everything to prove that he was better and would treat her better, but each day, one thing sends Ryan into a loop. It's that one kiss that he doesn’t get, the one of the few things he is jealous about, the good-bye kiss at the end of the day from boyfriend to girlfriend. Not only does this kiss send him in loops it’s the way he can seemingly control her thoughts and actions and how she will live her life. Finally the day comes and Ryan seemingly has gained his gift. The one he has spent endless sleepless nights wishing for, she became one step closer to becoming his. Earlier that day during an argument Michele ended the relationship with Mike to move on, hopefully to something better. That day at lunch all the boundaries are set down, they must just wait, and that was seemingly all. But better yet, unknowingly the tunnel that almost ended will just get bigger and longer the next day when Ryan finds out a hidden secret kept from him, for some absurd reason. The couple he so hated seeing together, that had ended unbelievably sprouted new life. Hearing this thru Ryan so much closer to the end of his sanity. Not knowing which way to turn with his life was coming to an end; Ryan did the one thing he knew best, Ryan started walking. Not knowing which way to go or why, he just walked. Finally ending up back at his house, he realized walking wouldn't help and that he had to solve things the one way everyone feared. The next day his chance came when he received an un-expecting phone call from the last person he expected to hear from, Michele. Though the phone call was short it gave him the chance to say what he wanted, when they would meet at a local park. As Ryan walked into the park perimeters he pondered and how to exactly say things and what to say, but as he kept thinking he happened to look up and right in front of him stood Michele. Her beauty sent all thoughts and plans out of his head in a jumbled mass of nothing. As they spent their time together nothing seemed to matter, it was as if he had reached the point he had wanted to be at, and it peaked at a kiss. The one kiss he had been waiting for, the first true kiss. Knowing that they must soon depart he stuffed it in the back of his head, but it kept coming out like the constant drip of a leaky faucet. During the time they did spend together, Ryan learned that all he needed to do was be patient and she would be his, she would turn to him in the end and in realizing this Ryan would make everything much more simpler and less hurtful. As Ryan walked home, he seemed to walk as a new man. He had seen into the girl's eyes and realized that the choice that lay before her wasn’t easy, and could not always be what she truly wanted. Understanding this Ryan decided to let time weave them closer and soon enough they would be woven so tightly that the love that they share won't break or have the chance to. As the week passes by things turn to the worse, but then turn towards the best, and eventually in the end, all obstacles that had been laid in front of him as barrier had been broken down and showed him the path he had been dreaming about so much. The next two weeks passed by as if they were so short, time spent together was short but meaningful. Learning about each other became the number one priority, not dating, but better understanding whom each person was. In the end one could say good prevailed, or the better man won, but instead it is shown that Ryan became the luckiest man on the Earth, and has been ever since, that one faithful day, May 7th 2001 at 12:59 PM. -I wrote this so long ago, and just found it.. Guest Mister Burrofoot Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Yes, it is based upon a true story of my life.. I unfortuantly cannot say I am still with that wonderful woman, thought we remain great and close friends the love we once shared has slipped a bit, though I do see it re-kindling , which makes me very happy!!
