Tanuchan Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 This has been a very popular and enjoyable activity, having created lots of interesting poetry in its own time. You can find the original thread, started by Cryptomancer, in the Vaults. The idea is simple: someone gives you a line, and you use it as the first line of a poem. Then you give a new line for the next one to come. Old lines can be reused if you wish, but ideally you should still leave your own line as a courtesy for the next one! So here's mine, to kickstart the activity =) -------- Line: History has no end (thanks, Mynx!) History has no end no beginning, no course it's a stream that branches, bends and splits - wayward child of whimsical gods. New line: Chasing trouble 1 Quote
Peredhil Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 Chasing trouble - She let me catch her, She was wild - I could match her. Whirlwind time - We spun around there, Eternal now - We just didn't care. I was noon - She was the dawn, At sunset, She had up and gone. First line: "The smile is fake" 1 Quote
Mynx Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 The smile is fake The hair is dyed The wisdom is old The truth a lie The eyes are real The teeth keenly so The words made to feel The way to go New line: Long live Zero Quote
Patrick Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 Chasing trouble - She let me catch her, She was wild - I could match her. Whirlwind time - We spun around there, Eternal now - We just didn't care. I was noon - She was the dawn, At sunset, She had up and gone. Wow. Long live zero An unexistant hero He is not the one The battle far from won New line: This incandescent rage Quote
Peredhil Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 This incandescent rage, I feel (Too large for words or worlds), Destroying galaxies would not release enough. The entire universe, I hurl (I stride the Planes like pavement), At the object of my wrath. Left the damnable Lego, you did (This has happened far too much), Boobytrapping the path to the loo. New line: The way I feel Quote
Patrick Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 The way I feel... like a slimy eel The way I move like a sly mongoose The way I walk Makes everyone gawk The way I fly Like a bee who is high The way I fuss about... the animal in all of us New line: Dancing the samba after two bottles of whisky Quote
Tanuchan Posted June 19, 2014 Author Report Posted June 19, 2014 Dancing the samba after two bottles of whisky the Captain of the ship snickered most lewdly eyeing the hips that moved like a ship caught in the waves of oncoming storm Dancing the samba after two bottles of whisky the Captain gulped, and looked up his partner’s eyes were stormy as the gale that sank his ship and sealed his fate. Dancing the samba after two bottles of whisky wasn’t as wise as he thought it was the gale came, and the storm came, and as his ship had done, he sank to the ground. New line: Chicken feathers Quote
Peredhil Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Chicken feathers make me down comforters to keep me warm, But I can't get down off an elephant. Duck feathers make me down comforters to keep me warmer, But I can't get no down off Chumbawamba . But I love to get down with you. New line: Cuddling a sleeping elf Quote
Mynx Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Cuddling a sleeping elf Books lie open on the shelf Beloved tales oft' reread To soothe the voices in the head Kittens jump into the fray Outside a dog begins to bay But here inside the night is calm To day's stressors a soothing balm Mouth splits open in a yawn It is far too close to dawn Cuddling a sleeping elf And soon fast asleep myself New line: Of one thing I am certain Quote
Tanuchan Posted June 23, 2014 Author Report Posted June 23, 2014 Of one thing I'm certain: survival is for the fittest, the future, for the strongest. Wings that flap, brain focused on grain - round body full of promises. Predator on my own, eyes locked on golden skin, of this, I'm certain: glistening in invitation, juicy promises will fulfill my dreams as a cook. What a great roast! New line: Droplets of water glinting in the shadows Quote
Mynx Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 Droplets of water glinting in the shadows Fragments of glass shining in the sun Dustings of sand out over the plains Smudges of grease smearing the gun Hazes of smoke dancing in the air Smattering of powder staining the hand Ringing of ears as the shot echoes out Resuming one's travels over the land New Line: Fluffy jellybean Quote
Peredhil Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 Fluffy jellybean, found under the cushion, You still look good to me. Along with the furry breadcrumbs, toe nail clippings, and fallen chickpea. I will nom you, as I do everything, Because I am hongry. And throw up later, on tile not carpet, if you are not good for me. New line: Slow gray clouds 1 Quote
Tanuchan Posted June 27, 2014 Author Report Posted June 27, 2014 Slow gray clouds like the thoughts that haunt me cross the skies of the scenes of my life The winds picks up as the stream of time rushes spread the clouds into thin veils of memory. Slow gray clouds haunting the skies vanishing storm waiting for the dawn. New line: Liquid fire from olden days 1 Quote
Peredhil Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Liquid fire, from olden days, showered down on our position, Despite its age, its fires blazed, on our covering shields. We overlapped, we squatted and shat, it dripped fire around our feet, But we rose again, the women and men, and fought the alien. New Line: In your eyes Quote
Patrick Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 In your eyes I see the fires of rage New line: My honour in tattered shreds or if you're picky about your US/UK English, just use honor. Quote
Peredhil Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 My honour in tattered shreds, I wrap myself in their cold warmth, Seeking what solace I might find, "I did no wrong", I cry, But of the many rights, was I wise? My reputation in the heads, Of those who do not understand, I am not certain I even mind, "Your vote is nought", I cry, But of the many rights, was I wise? I am immeshed in the webs, Of inner turmoil and self-loathing doubt, But to myself I must be kind, "Integrity's what matters," I cry, But of the many rights, was I wise? First line, "Jolly little baby mine" Quote
Patrick Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Jolly little baby mine You dirty prickly swine How I love you so Want to strangle you slow I only want your love You are not my dove I keep pushing away But...please stay! First line: You're just trying to stir trouble Quote
Mynx Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 You're just trying to stir trouble He accused with a sigh Well, obviously Came the reply But you're not even trying She turned back onto him Trouble follows you As if on a whim You might have a point He was forced to admit I always do, she said With a smile on her lips New line: The songs that must be sung Quote
Peredhil Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 The songs that must be sung Echoed weakly through the cave, The songs are sung by one Ignorant world to save. Keeping the demon lord at bay Only one old priest remains, He sings them day by day He sings them through his pains. New line: That gardener hears the girl crying Quote
Patrick Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 That gardener hears the girl crying Tears of joy trickling down her face And he smiles In happiness That gardener hears the girl laughing The sweet innocent laughter of the young And he smiles In reminiscence That gardener sees the girl dancing The dance of one lost in their joy And he smiles In remembrance That girl sees a gardener dying The death of a full life And she smiles And so does he New line: Just one more level... Quote
Peredhil Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 Just one more level, just one more level, I promised myself some sleep. Just one more level, just one more level, I've promises to keep. Just one more level, just one more level, I really need this drop. Just one more level, just one more level, After this one I will stop. New line: An emptied flame erases the reformed skull Quote
Tanuchan Posted July 19, 2014 Author Report Posted July 19, 2014 This might be cheating... Feel friee to skip my line if you prefer the previous one!! An emptied flame erases the reformed skull of time An engorged river erases the eroded bones of memory A cloud of dust erases the carved signs of life And the forces that come will leave with the same promise of oblivion rest peace. New line: Sacrificial maidens in search of evil Quote
Harmonious_Echos Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 sacrificial maidens in search of evil find what they seek (or does it find them?) armed and cloaked in deepest black, they march to the place of ritual with scowls of deep concentration. Arriving, they circle the altar stone, close their eyes, and count to ten; then, squealing, they chase each other with magic death wands till all have been solidly thumped on the head, and run off to tell Mommy that the others aren't playing fair. The song of slavery haunts these halls 1 Quote
Patrick Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 The song of slavery haunts these halls The cries for freedom echo from the pillars The song of suffering...oh how it calls The cries provoked by oh so many killers The song of freedom rings throughout these fields The cries of victory echo among the corn The song of joy...oh to them a soul yields The freedom won by oh so many we mourn Next line: An intent to slaughter Quote
Tanuchan Posted September 5, 2014 Author Report Posted September 5, 2014 An intent to slaughtera gleam in the eyes- hands tremblingin gleeful expectationStalking and hidingobserving unseenquiet breathingloud in the silenceA light in the eyesa target in sightan intent to slaughter- a knife in the dark.
