Brighid of Byrness Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I'm a big fan of power metal. It's high-energy and the lyrics are mostly about slaying dragons and/or facing the dark lord's armies. Which power metal bands do you like? I like a lot of prog metal. There are so many sub-genres of metal that I'm not sure if I've heard any of what you're talking about. Post a video of one of your favorite songs...please:) Quote
The Portrait of Zool Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 I'm in an eclectic mood... I've put on the LP Esquivel - Strings Aflame! Quote

Brighid of Byrness Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 I'm in an eclectic mood... I've put on the LP Esquivel - Strings Aflame! I should have listened to this before writing my Boaz post; maybe the entertainment would have been a bit more exotic! Quote
The Portrait of Zool Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 LOL - that is VERY understanding! I was going to thank you for adding music to that - I was going to and had completely forgotten. Ane Brun - Undertow Quote

The Portrait of Zool Posted October 18, 2013 Author Report Posted October 18, 2013 Listening to my new Rocky Horror soundtrack LP Quote
Brighid of Byrness Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Cool! "I'm just a sweet transvestite...." Fun memories for sure! When I was in high school, a friend and I went to a midnight showing. We went to the restroom before the show and when I came out of the stall, Dr. Frank N Furter was standing in front of the mirror putting on his finishing touches. We talked for a bit -- he was attending the local university and had very long legs which looked nice in stockings -- but then his sister came into the bathroom, took one look at him, started to cry, and said something like, "Mom would die if she saw you now!" Quote
The Portrait of Zool Posted October 18, 2013 Author Report Posted October 18, 2013 That's a good story - quite believable! Well, truth be told I've never gone to a show. My ex was into it (she played Magenta, but that was before I met her) and we rented the "tape" and I thought it was hilarious. I saw it at the record store the other day, and thought it was campy and cool enough that I should own it. Quote
Brighid of Byrness Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 They still have showings in DC around Halloween, but I'm not up for that anymore hehe. I went a few times in high school and college, but I never dressed up as a character. I did take a bag of props though, like newspapers, a squirt gun, a piece of toast..... Quote
Brighid of Byrness Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 The Dark Side of the Moon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_538092vKc Chilly day...just made a small fire, Pink Floyd on the turntable, checking into a few online sites and then reading for a bit before heading out to a beer fest. The Portrait of Zool Posted October 19, 2013 Author Report Posted October 19, 2013 Octobeerfest sounds like fun! Currently listening toVan Morrison, a CD with the Chieftains. I'd give a link but I'm posting from my phone. Quote
Brighid of Byrness Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 It was cold and drizzly, so over in just a few hours for us! Much warmer inside and pleasant, upbeat background music: (Love Van Morrison AND the Chieftains...but I've never heard them together (I don't think)...will have to look them up right now!) Quote

Dragonforce: Disciples of Babylon: Symphony X: Incantations of The Apprentice: Wicked: ...That kind of thing. Quote
Brighid of Byrness Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 I started listening to Symphony X, Tamaranis, but it will have to wait until my kid's are finished with their homework... Quote
The Portrait of Zool Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 My son is a big Amon Amarth fan. Currently on the turntable, Isaac Hayes, Hot Buttered Soul... Quote
Brighid of Byrness Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 U2 -- The Joshua Tree This song is totally underrated. I've mentioned that to several friends, but no one else seems to share my view. Oh well....I guess it's just because I fell in love with Bono when I was in college and we left MTV on 24/7 and the song is really about the emotion in his voice. Quote
Harmonious_Echos Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 John Cougar Mellencamp, "small town". It's not too bad. Quote
The Portrait of Zool Posted October 24, 2013 Author Report Posted October 24, 2013 U2's Joshua Tree is a great album. Currently on my turntable a little album called 'Lili Marlene', by Marlene Dietrich http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBi5j7yPwd0 Quote
