Harmonious_Echos Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 House Fire funeral of a thousand things memories on a pyre; countless priceless treasured stuff vanished in an hour. notebooks, songbooks, children's stories, clothing, worn, and clothing, new dishes from another era paintings from a year or two; stacks of pictures, things in limbo sacred scraps of remembered time; all erased in a moment's passing, by the ever-ruthless flames. now the dust returns to dust, only ash remains, and the people stand and weep at life's quick cruelty.
Snypiuer Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 I never know what to say when something bad happens to others. "I'm sorry" doesn't seem right - like MY saying it fixes anything. "Look on the bright-side, no one was hurt" seems kinda flippant. So. . . imagine the perfect thing a person you've never met could ever say to you in this situation to make you feel even a LITTLE bit better and know that I wish I could have come up with that.
Harmonious_Echos Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks, weenie...lol...but really it's OK, I just wanted a critique on the poem!
Snypiuer Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Ummmmm. . . that WAS a critique of the poem. Just kidding! Sorry, I could NOT stop myself - I am ashamed. I do like the poem, but that's about as far as my 'critiquing' skills go. Which is even more shameful - 'cause chicks like guys with skills.
Harmonious_Echos Posted April 16, 2010 Author Report Posted April 16, 2010 ACK!! http://www.themightypen.net/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif "Ummmmm. . . that WAS a critique of the poem" Lol actually I think it deserves that. I've written so much better!
