Aging books, yellow paperbacks, a school-book-sale one with a purple stamp,

Books older than me, movies, comic books, 30 Days of Night,

Young Frankenstein and Eyes without a Face, a marble lamp

With no shade, The Grapes of Wrath, a hardcover, a book my brother won,

 

Book without a cover, black-and-white photograph with red lipstick painted on it.

Books I love, old books, new books,

Dusty books with dog-eared pages at all the good bits.

Short stacks of books, a mountain of books,

 

Paperbacks make-up stained, hardcover library deals

Dust, a rubber ball, an old French chocolate-box,

DVDs, CDs, black smudges, tape reel;

Pink Rabbit, cloth tongue, tea-light candles.
