The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

Fear is closer than myself, a companion from older days

an instinct who's my twin

intimacy in dark places

Confidence is but an acquaintance, a tentative new friend

conscious choice that comes with the years

alluring light to dissipate darkness.

(It's not what you asked but it was what came out :P)

Fear is the mind-killer.

Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear.

I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.

Sorry couldn't help myself, but seeing the title this was the first thing I thought of...

Fear is my constant houseguest--an aquaintance from the old days who has overstayed his welcome. I try to usher him out, drop hints about moving on, but still he sits at my table, smiling as he stirs his tea; Confidence is just outside the door, waiting and beckoning for me to leave my dark, grey house and try some sunshine on for size.

But I can´t. I can´t just leave my houseguest. That would be rude.

(Yeah, I´m stuck in an internet cafe in Munich waiting for my train and thus can´t be held responsible for any posts in the next few hours)

Fear is intensity, alert focus on the unknown; Confidence is pride in one's self, and a relaxation of one's ultimately necessary guard...Fear is Yin, Confidence is Yan.

(And an equally balanced measure of BOTH are necessary, in order to control the input of nine voices of Chaos!)
