Peredhil Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 My son posted a Facebook status message that started me thinking so I thought I'd pass the infliction on. His message was, "Inaction is slavery; Action is freedom". So, fill in the blanks. How do you view the dichotomy? Inaction is ______; Action is _____ Feel free to expound with philosophy or explanation if you wish.
The Portrait of Zool Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Inaction is sloth; Action is fatigue.
Hjolnai Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Inaction is timeless, action is transient. Inaction is death, action is life. Inaction is boring, action is painful. Inaction is pointless, action is ineffective. Inaction is comfortable, action is exciting. Inaction is sleep, action is wakefulness So many more, of varying degrees of optimism/pessimism/paranoia, could apply so well to different people. I really couldn't pick a particular one to adhere to, as different moods strike at different times. Let it suffice to say, a balance should be struck between inaction and action.
Tanuchan Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Inaction is copying. Action is creativity. Inaction is just coping. Action is rewarding life.
Snypiuer Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Inaction is ______________. Action is filling in the blank. Too cheesy?
Peredhil Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 hehe. oh Snypiuer, I have missed you. Glad you're able to make drive-by posting.
Peredhil Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 Inaction is negotiation; Action is declaration.
Gwaihir Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Inaction is surviving; action is living. (Though, honestly my first thought was inaction is almost impossible for me and incredibly boring. Action is a lot more fun!)
