Peredhil Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Smile to the world, they'll never know, How deeply the pain will go. Down past the heart to your very core: When you think you're full, there's only more. Hold out for a promise, believe it'll come, 'Till it hurts so badly you're nearly numb. The days crawl by as time seems to slow: When you don't know how far you have to go. So hard to trust a voice so barely heard, To know a Dad found in the written Word. Learning to trust while in the midst of pain: When all is done, love will remain.
Wyvern Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Good poem about the struggle of living and the means of coping through faith, Peredhil. The difficulty of maintaining a semi-social outward appearance while suffering inside is something that I'm sure many of us here can relate to... it echoes with me, and is also a subject that I've seen popping up quite a bit in recent Pen poetry, which would almost be reassuring if it weren't for the thought of so many pennites suffering. Anyway, I like the way you put this poem together, with the numbness and slowing of things coming through. The capitalization at the end for the biblical reference was well done as well. Thanks for sharing this, hope you're well.
