cryptomancer Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 It is cold here now Empty despair drenching me in its clasping hands Waking my eyes to darkness still, unseeing, I stare. Ever reaching for all I lost I stepped too far. Tonight my reach became my fall, It is cold here now, No light or warmth holds me, No candle of hope flickers in my heart, I saw the joy lost, the pain and anguish I caused, Nothing but my idiocy in reaching too far Tonight my reach became my fall. It is cold here now, I can feel the warmth seeping away, Shards of my world floating distant and drift away, My brown eyes see naught, cold orbs their hollows wrought Tears cannot balance me, I reached too far, My life ends here, I fall
Wyvern Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 Yikes, a very bleak and strongly worded poem cryptomancer. I think the choice of words and tone throughout it really convey a sense of desolation well, and it's rendered all the more sad by the notion that the protagonist of the poem was doing his best to reach out and still ended up this way. The repeated "It is cold here now" mantra was well-incorporated as well. Anyway, I hope that you're doing well personally... just let me/us know if you're really down and out so we can at least try and cheer you up. Thanks for sharing this here. And if it does happen to be a personal poem, I wanna re-light the candle with a blowtorch.
