Kikuyu_Black_Paws Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 (edited) I've walked so many paths with you We've laughed and cried and danced a few 'Fore long we'll have to say goodbye, And I'll try very hard not to cry. You'll walk away, I'll stay behind, But friends like you are hard to find, 'Fore long we'll have to say goodbye, And I'll try very hard not to cry. I'll always remember how you changed me, From minotuars to ninjas to a man named D, But 'fore long we'll have to say goodbye, And I'll try very hard not to cry. I know that this is not forever, Our ties will never truly sever, But 'fore long we'll have to say goodbye, And I'll try very hard not to cry. Be strong and courageous, think of me often, Never let your memories fade or harden, Although miles will keep us far apart, You are my friends, my joy, my heart. Wyvern Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Moving to new locations and leaving old friends behind can definitely be a tough thing to deal with, and as someone who's moved around a bunch I greatly sympathize with the theme of this poem Kikuyu. :-) As you note in the second to last stanza, it's important to remember that many of the bonds will "never truly sever," and that you'll probably have opportunities to see each other again in the future. I like the way you wrote the poem, with the third stanza about "minotaurs to ninjas to a man named D" standing out to me for its personal details. I could hear the crying refrain put to music as well. Anyway, thanks for sharing this here Kikuyu... I hope that you're doing well, and that these thoughts of distance haven't got you too down.
