Patrick Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 The scent of fresh blood brought them all. Awoken from their daytime slumber they all came. None could resist the call of this blood. Dead bodies and numerous guns were thrown all around the third floor of the otherwise nondescript apartment building. Were one to look or smell closer, crosses, holy water and wooden stakes were all littered amongst the carnage. And in the middle of it all, the attention of all the various vampires around it, was a small pile of ash. "Milosh Maundrell, the prince of the Camarilla of Goldendown has been killed by the Society of Leopold." It was a ninth generation Ventrue, Victoria Rowan speaking. She of course, as most of the others standing amidst the carnage, hoped to be his successor now that he was dead. However, only one could become the new prince. Werewolf XXXIII is hereby open for signups! There shall be three (or four) special roles in this game: -wolf: wolf(ves) are vampires who act outside the normal rules and who hire mercenaries to kill their opponents during the daytime, when they are sleeping -baner: the baner is a vampire who wants to avoid or at worst lessen the chaos caused by the succession and thus tries to prevent killings -gravedigger: the gravedigger is, through a trait of blood passed down from Cain himself, able to bring a vampire back from the dead once during the game. -seer (if 7 or more players): practicing arcane magical arts, the seer is able to find out the true motivations of a vampire. Non-Camarilla vampires/clans are also allowed, their objective shall not to be the new prince of Goldendown, but to weaken the Camarilla sufficiently to be able to establish a foothold themselves in town. PM alliances are allowed, but CC all PMs (alternatively MSN or IRC logs) to me so that I know what is going on behind the scenes. Roles shall not be revealed when someone is wolfed or lynched. The game shall end when only two players remain. The prince and his most trusted advisor shall be chosen from them. Or if a non-Camarilla vampire is among the winners, then the town might not have a prince or be split amongst the new prince and the non-Camarilla. Also due to the nature of vampires, day and nightphases are inversed. Lynchings occur during nightphase, while the specials actions happen during the day. Sign ups shall be open until Sunday night. Edit: just for clarification: votes during lynchphases are public and not PM'd.
Tanuchan Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 I'm in... character to come - will be a Tremere, anyway
Patrick Posted March 26, 2007 Author Report Posted March 26, 2007 For those who don't know much about the setting, here are a few useful Wiki links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire_The_Masquerade http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clans_in_Vamp..._the_Masquerade
Venefyxatu Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Lemme think ... About a character, obviously!
Mardrax Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Wow. A Vene sighting. It's the undead! Count me in. From the wikilinks post and common sense, I assume we use the old WoD for the setting? Will probably be a Tory
Patrick Posted March 26, 2007 Author Report Posted March 26, 2007 Count me in. From the wikilinks post and common sense, I assume we use the old WoD for the setting? Yep, that's right.
Savage Dragon Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Alright I know pretty much nothing about the setting except that Vampires suck blood... but that hasn't stopped me before character to come once i find out a little more
Tanuchan Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Hehehe... that's the way to go, Savage! If it helps, I know very little... I was about to start playing the Vampire RPG when the group disbanded. So... another newbie Vampire here
Patrick Posted March 26, 2007 Author Report Posted March 26, 2007 If you know little of the setting feel free to prod me in MSN (patrick (at) windbringer (dot) net) or via PM. Edit: or on IRC under Patrick.
Tanuchan Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Name: Lilah Lestrand Clan: Tremere Generation: 10th Nature: Competitor Deamenor: Loner Sire: Mikhel Daaverstat Disciplines: Thaumaturgy (good - Hands of Destruction path) Auspex (good) Apparent Age: 25 Real Age: 107 Height: 1.65m Weight: 52kg Lilah has long black hair (reaching just below her shoulder blades), gray-blue eyes, fair skin that hasn't seen a tan even in her childhood, Lilah doesn't call special attention for her appearance, and she has learned to conceal the piercing gleam in her eyes since childhood to better deceive governesses and tutors. She favors clothes in dark blue hues, and has a certain skill to remain unnoticed in crowds. When out for hunting, she favors comfortable but sturdy leather boots, and either pants or slitted skirts that don't hamper movement. She never leaves her Haven without her knives concealed about her body. A small bag carries some extra knives and a handgun. She was the pampered daughter of a powerful politician, and from childhood had everything she wanted. However, being raised by a team of governesses and tutors who were never really loving to her, she soon developed an adventurous taste for the life out of her small perfect world. As soon as she could, she started escaping her parents and tutors to play with children on the streets of the city, going farther and farther in search of adventure in a darker world that fascinated her. She quite often ran away from the boarding school she was sent to, and no amount of scolding, punishment, or threat, stopped her for long. She spent much of her time investigating the premises of the school, the dorms, the streets nearbly, and wherever she happened to be. Thus, she developed a sense of opportunity and good stealth skills, along with a naturally sharp perception and good wits. At age 23, Lilah met Mikhel Daaverstat, a mysterious and intriguing figure who draw her into an even darker world than she though possible: a Tremere vampire, who Embraced her a year into their acquaintance. She lives in an apartment located above a warehouse near the docks. An inconspicuous door at the back of a rarely used storage room leads to stairs that go up into a kind of attic. There's a reinforced door at the end of those stairs that opens into a barely lit closet full of bookshelves. There's another door between two of the biggest shelves; it opens into Lilah's apartment. To the right there's a counter with an electric stove and some kitchen appliances, and a fridge. They're always a bit messy, as she actually cooked there - in case someone does enter the apartment. A small door indicates the neat bathroom. To the back there's an alcove behind dark curtains, where a huge canopied bed sits. There's one heavily curtained window to the right, around which a sofa and an armchair make up a living room.
Mynx Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Would like to play just need to read up on things and figure out if I have time so... Application pending
Mithrandin Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Osidian was made a vampire by the age of 21 in a strange not to say odd episode on the docks of Amsterdam back in 1875… Osidian, a fine young lad, was working in the docks since he had lost her mother recently. While unloading a ship from the new lands, a very good-looking gentleman arrived and took him by the hand, promising him riches and eternal life in exchange for his beauty for a night. An endless night of love and Embrace into darkness. (Maybe not as odd a story after all). Needless to say it was Joseph Brannigan, a politician and a 7th generation vampire from the Sabbat belonging to the Assamite clan which Osidian joined. Later Osidian found his way into the Black Hand sect by the exquisite use of the Quietus disciple, which he mastered soon enough and long before the Obfuscate and Celerity disciples. And yes this is my sign in!
Finnius Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Placeholder - Malkavian to come, though. Be afraid! ... Or don't. Your choice. But you were warned! ... Or you weren't. Your choice.
Gryphon Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I'm in. I don't know much Vampire, but I'm thinking that I might come up with a character in clan Ventrue. More details later.
Finnius Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 (I warned you!) Name: What's in a name? Francis (just for show, don't you know), Rat-cather, that dirtbag on the corner, what was that noise?, oh god it's coming in the window... sometimes it's best just to be simple. So let's stick with Francis. Clan: Malkavian Generation: 10th, if Francis put any stock in that sort of thing. Demeanor: Well, my sire used to say, de meaner you is, de longer you lives, but I don't think that's what we're talking about. (Perhaps something in a nice Jester, but being realistic, it changes far too often to really care about.) Nature: Is generally good, but keep it outside the city, thank you. (Or Architect, if you must.) Apparent Age: Depends on if he's been eating, what he's been eating, and whether he's had a bath, but generally ranges between well-dressed 20ish and 'get the hell away from me.' Actual Age: 27? 52? 84 thousand? Old enough to know the deal, anyway. Disciplines of Note: Dementation - while he's not the most skilled user ever, he wields what little ability he has like a surgical scalpel, whittling away the overly strong emotions and increasing the muted ones until his intended target is in complete balance. Complete, perfect balance. Auspex - common belief is that Francis has exactly no talent with this discipline. He's only rarely appeared to percieve the deeper meanings of the world, and the few times he has, he's been dead wrong, or at least undead wrong. Of course, common is just an archaic word for 'useless.' Francis has also displayed (or at least claimed to display) small bits of talent with Obfuscate, Animalism (he talks to animals anyway, and assumes they talk back), and Dominate. History: Walter Mondale once said "A man at peace is a man in the grave..." Ok, maybe he didn't actually say that, but I bet he was thinking it. Rat-catcher's sire believed this - so firmly, in fact, that immediately upon siring Francis, he stuffed the poor boy in a coffin; which was then nailed shut, secured with concrete, and stowed away in a storage building. Francis was promptly forgotten about, and there the story would have ended... were it not for the blessed advent of teenage vandals, and their warm, tasty... erm... well, vandals. That was a bit less than 30 years ago, and to this day, Francis has no idea how long he was in the coffin... he is not, in fact, even very convinced that 'Francis' is his real name. It was on a funny piece of plastic with what is quite possibly his picture on it, but these things can be faked, and anyone who'd stuff a neonate in a coffin for eighty-four thousand years probably has a sick sense of humor. Still, it's the only actual name he has at the moment, so it'll have to do. In the meantime, Francis (or Rat-catcher, when he's in a slump), has come to the realisation that it doesn't matter who he was, so much as who he is - and who he is, is someone important. After all, the world keeps throwing exactly what he needs at him. First, he was embraced and left for dead... well, undead... and that's good, since he wouldn't have held any truck with being under some stodgy old elder's wing for too long. Second, he was left for long enough that figuring out just how old he was is impossible, even for himself... and that's good, since he wouldn't have dealt very well with being treated like an ignorant childe, either. And lastly, he's not just a vampire, he's a Malkavian and that is sooo good, because he can do, say, or think just about anything he wants, and nobody thinks it's strange. Well, any stranger than any other Malkavian, anyway. Yes, the stars have a plan for Francis, and he's going to see them through. Other Things that Might Be Good to Know: Francis has a very detailed knowledge of history, though he tends to think of it by what music was popular at the time rather than in terms of major events. (Hence the Renaisance tends to be referred to as the "Clinky Harpsichord Era," much to the ticking-off of several poncy Toreador.) He's been fairly active in city politics since his re-awakening, on the platform that age is both a benefit and a curse to the city's leadership. This view has made him quite popular among the younger crowd, but generally disliked by the older one - apparently the idea that common sense is just that - common - doesn't float so well with the elders. The identity of Francis' sire is still unknown, though Francis claims to be absolutely sure that said sire is still alive, and in the city. Of course, he's also fairly sure the rats tell him which lottery tickets to buy sometimes, so that might just be blowing smoke. He lives alternately in a utilitarian uptown loft, feeding on the sick and homeless; and in a dumpster two blocks north, with a small family of choleric indigents, feeding on middle-class white-collar workers. After all, you have to shift your paradigm every now and then.
Finnius Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 (Wow, that came out a lot longer than it did in my head...)

Merelas Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Name: Sylas Clan: Nosferatu Generation: 9th Nature: Director Deamenor: Conformist Sire: "Bloody" Mary Stewart Discipline: Sylas has abandoned all disciplines but Obfuscate, and in turn has been rewarded with an "outstanding" rating in it. Apparent Age: ~20; it's hard to tell due to his deformities. Real Age: 101 Height: 5'1 (It's unknown how tall he would be if he were able to stand up straight) Weight: 220 lbs. Sylas did not take well to the Embrace. In life, he was the child of two blue-collar parents, his mother a baker, his father a janitor at the local high school he attended. He was born with intense asthma and a club foot, both intense obstacles to overcome, especially during the depression when money was tight and time to nurture a child was tighter. Sylas always did well in school, however, and there was no concern of him wandering off to join in the second world war, when that rolled around. It was during that great conflict, when Sylas was just starting his time at the University, that he received the Embrace. Mary Stewart (perhaps descended from, but certainly not directly related to Mary, Queen of Scots) seduced him; it was easy for him to fall in love with such a beautiful woman, who seemed to love him for his intellect, his clarity of thought, and his drive for success regardless of obstacles. She seemed to love him and be attracted to him regardless of his breathing, his continual limping, doddering movements. It was in her bed that he received the embrace. Unsure what was happening, Sylas let his life flow away, and then was awakened amoment later. Mary was completely different now. Her face was red with scar tissue, and it was difficult to make out the girl she had appeared before. After Sylas' first hunger dissipated, Mary explained to him that he had been manipulated using an ancient vampiric technique allowing them to change their appearance. Sylas didn't reply, but he has never forgiven his sire. That night, he vowed to become as great a master of Obfuscation as she. He has. He has also fallen in line with the views and concentrations of Clan Nosferatu; Sylas listens, gathers information, and can provide that information, for a price. He is always willing to help, if you're willing to help him. Only recently has Sylas begun dabbling in Animalism, but he would still receive an "Abysmal" in that trait if evaluated today.
Venefyxatu Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Mardrax : one could say that this is right up my alley ... whether that alley includes a juicy mugger or not Andreas Giovanni folded himself out of the backseat of his black Mercedes. The tall man nodded curtly to the driver, who was holding the door open, and looked left and right down the empty street. A chilly breeze ruffled his black suit and made him 'tsk' with disdain. He couldn't care less about the temperature, since he hadn't noticed those for a long time, but he did smoothen his suit again before walking to the front door purposefully. After all, he was here for a reason ... Name: Andreas Giovanni Clan: Giovanni Generation: 11th Nature: Competitor Demeanour: Perfectionist Concept: Criminal (lawyer). Those who are offended by this are cordially invited to see this as, "a lawyer who is mostly in it to help his criminal friends out". Those who can take a lawyer joke ... well ... I don't need to make you a picture, do I? Sire: Marcus Giovanni Disciplines: - Necromancy (Sepulchre path and first steps on the Ash path) Apparent Age: 32 Real Age: 103 Height: 2m15 Weight: 150kg Flaws - Prey Exclusion : Asians ("I never did like the Asian kitchen, I don't see why I would like the cooks ...") - Light-sensitive Merits - Enchanting voice - Huge size Andreas looks like he was roughly hewn out of solid rock, a stark contrast with his gentle, alluring voice. Even though he looks like his place is on a sports field, he wears his suits comfortably and has no problem keeping an entire room hanging from his lips. His head is completely bald and he keeps his eyes hidden behind sunglasses as black as the suits he wears. Besides being raised with a fierce loyalty to his family, Andreas was also educated with all the inns and outs of American law. After graduating, but before his Embrace, he quickly made a name for himself as a lawyer with a perfect record. When Marcus, his uncle and half-brother, deemed him ready, he started putting his affairs in order, climbing to the top of the law firm he was working for in a matter of months and arranging to run it from behind the scenes. The Embrace itself was, though painful, quite uneventful : he'd been preparing for it for several years, serving to Marcus as a ghoul as is common in the family. It was partly Marcus' doing that Andreas rose so quickly. Wherever Marcus didn't help him out but he did need an edge, those who were in his way would suddenly start becoming more and more distracted, some of them going outright insane. None of them, however, have ever explained what was distracting them. In the years following his Embrace, Andreas made it an art to steer the firm only when absolutely necessary, giving him a lot more time to spend with his necromantic studies. Here, too, his perfectionist side helped him in getting where he is right now.
Savage Dragon Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 (edited) Name: Simon Hopkins Clan: Brujah Generation: 12th Apparent Age: 20 Actual Age: 25 Nature: Very good natured and kind before the Embrace, confused in this new role of predator Demeanor: quiet, observant Sire: Richard Ellis History: Simon only very recently joined the world of immortals, a world he is very uncomfortable with. Simon had been very different in his....previous life. He had been a man of passion. He'd been friendly, intelligent, and easy-going. He went to a university, made friends easily and with little effort, and was respected by professor and student alike. He adapted to the complex changing social structure around him naturally. He was dependable, trustworthy, and could be counted on as a designated driver. He had a life many dreamed of. He was also a fool. He was a fool in love. She had meant the world to him and when she died, the world lost meaning for him and his passion died with her. After the accident he began to sleep all day, continually missing his classes and keeping to himself during the night. Friends begged him to get a hold of his life and continue his education or to at least walk with the rest of the world in the daylight again. He told them the sun hurt his eyes. He would go on long walks off-campus at night, exploring dark corners and unlit alleys. He hoped to run into trouble, a mugger, a thug, someone he could fight, someone he could lose to. All he found was Richard Ellis. Richard Ellis immediately noticed young Simon, recognizing the fierce look in his eyes common among passionate men. Richard had no passion, only greed. Short, sniveling, disliked even by his fellow clansmen, he saw Simon as a useful tool. He hoped to take on Simon as a prodigy, knowing the extreme usefulness of a man of his sort, but he also knew that Simon's passion could only be lured out of a willing man and so he sought to win Simon's compliance. Simon allowed himself to be steered by this mysterious man mostly out of pure apathy. Night after night, Richard would take Simon through the underworld of the dark city, exposing him to drugs and other evil things in the hopes on enticing him into this dark lifestyle. Simon fell to the temptations with only a twinge of guilt left over from the shadow of what he once was and perhaps he would have stayed in this lowest of lows had Richard not been impatient. Though Richard could tell Simon was well on his way to becoming a permanent tool of his, he had grown tired of this game and hoped to win Simon over with one final temptation, a woman. The scream of the whore pulled Richard into the room. The memory of his love had burned painfully into Simon's mind at the sight of the woman and he had retreated into the bathroom. The whore had mistaken his breakdown for a need to prepare and only looked for him when he did not return for several minutes. She found him with his wrists slit and unconscious from the blood loss. Richard ran into the room, panicked at the sight of his dying prodigy and performed the Embrace. Simon awoke not to the blessed release he had expected, but to a savage hunger he had never before felt. The whore's second scream was louder but shorter. Now fully aware of Richard's true nature, Simon left his would-be master and went on to fend for himself in this new world. Though unprepared and alone, Simon's survivalist instinct and adaptability have served to keep him intact. Disciplines: Potence - Superhuman Strength Celerity - Superhuman Speed Presence - Superhuman Charisma Disciplines typical of Brujah, though very underdeveloped due to his youth. ---------------------------------------------------- Okay, a lot longer than originally intended, but complete I figured Simon's amateur status would fit nicely considering I'm still learning myself Edited March 31, 2007 by Savage Dragon
