The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

A castle of words,

Candied, crystalized words.

A castle in the air.

Protecting me from Earth's dank reality.

Suspending me high above the clouds.

All is sugar and light.

Until it rains,

And the ink runs,

The paper tears,

And my words wash away.

And I fall,

Back to earth,

Damp and dark.

Nice poem, dragonqueen. :-) I like the way that you use the adjective "candied" to describe your words, as the element of sugary sweetness is a great way to show how the words offer a solace from the world's many hardships. It also works in the metaphor of the rain washing away the castle... sometimes, there's simply no escaping the troubles of the world. I really sympathize with this piece since I use creativity and roleplaying as an escape as well, so if you ever feel lonely in your castle of words, know that there's at least one reptilian schemer plotting a means to breach the inner-quarters. ;-)

Very nice stuff, dragonqueen. :-) Thanks for sharing it with us.

"YAY! Candywords!" Minta climbs up the projecting lines of the poem 'til she gets to the top couplet and samples one of the dots over an 'i'. "Yuck. It still tastes like ink," she frowns, sticking out an ink-dark tongue and going crosseyed to inspect the stain.

agree, it's fun. Ya know, though I think can actually omit the "castle in the air" line and still get you intended meaning across. Castles and clouds have strong connotations with each other in the relm of the imagination.
