Mardrax Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 (edited) Bad spirits rising through good spirits sinking down the throat as the anger rises ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall ninety-nine bottles of beer and if one of them would happen to fall a look a slur a swear and a brawl Good spirits drowned by good spirits rising to the surface as the spirits sink ninety-eight bottles of beer on the wall ninety-eight bottles of beer and if one of them would happen to fall a look a shrug a laugh would be all Edited January 29, 2007 by Mardrax
Wyvern Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I like this poem, Mardrax. The way that you twist the traditional verses of "Ninety-Nine Bottles of Beer on the Wall" with a deeper examination of the effects of alcohol is well done, and the wordplay of "good spirits" and "bad spirits" is clever as well. I also like the juxtaposition of "sinking" and "rises" in the first stanza, nice arrangement of words as usual. I think this poem is more direct than some of your other recent stuff, but it isn't any less effective. Thanks for sharing it here.
