Curious Mylo Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 New Beginning Some say the sun rises to give a new beginning. But how can it begin when there was yesterday? The memories, the mistakes, And all the things we want to escape. Some say the sun rises to give a new beginning. But what if I don't want a new beginning? The people, the places, How am I supposed to stop the sun? Some say the sun rises to give a new beginning. But what if the sun sets and it's not the end? Good days or bad days. The darkness may not end the day before.
Ayshela Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 The second stanza - "The people, the places, How am I supposed to stop the sun?" This doesn't follow as clearly as the first and third do. What is the connection between people, places, and whether or not you can stop the sun - or whether or not there should be a new beginning? Your third stanza, though, I especially like. You've built that progression wonderfully. It's almost strong enough to stand alone. =)
Ozymandias Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 I think she's right; maybe a reference to stopping the dark? I also agree that this is very kewl. Third stanza especially. :>)
Cerulean Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Hey there, I found this a thoughtful commentary on the (al)lure of the past. You remind me of Canute pressing palm to the foam. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed this. C.
