WrenWind Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 "Can I come?" "No baby I have to go by myself" "But... Who is going to tuck me in tonight?" "Daddy will tuck you in" "He doesn't read stories like you do." "You will have to teach him" "Why do you have to go?" "I just do." "Are you coming back?" "Yes Baby I'm coming back. I just need some time to think." " I love you." "I love you so much. Don't ever for get that." "Taxi is here." "Hug me tight so I can keep it with me." The taxi drives away and the little boy takes his father's hand and squeezes it. "She'll be back soon."
Sweetcherrie Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 This leaves me thinking about what she will be doing after she got in that taxi....and where she will go.... Will she see her little boy again? In a few words you managed to capture many feelings. Well written, and thank you for posting this here
Regel Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want But if you try sometimes you just might find You just might find You get what you need. The song has been buzzing around in my head ever since I read this Wrenwind. The struggles between what we want and what we need. For ever one there is a minimum, a bare minimum that we need to exist. Air, water, food and shelter head the list in this catagory but we need more that just basics so we struggle and strain. To thrive we need more and we deserve more. I have a question for you. Can a flower pulls it's root out of the ground and walk to reach the sun? Or will it grow tall, bend to reach the sun? The little boy in this story seems to know that to his mother he is her air, water, food and shelter. I wonder if she knows that she can't pull her roots out of the ground. Maybe she's a walking plant.
