Judge Katzaniel presiding.

The resolution is: "Be it resolved that the pen is mightier than the sword."

Arguing for the Negative (against the resolution) is our very own Venefyxatu. Arguing for the Affirmative (for the resolution) is the intrepid Gwaihir. Gwaihir will start us off. Let the debate begin!

Katzaniel starts her watch and settles down to listen.

She crosses her arms at the platform and surveys her listeners with a slight smile.

"Clearly the Pen is mightier than the sword. 'Oho, you say, let's see you defend yourself with that pen during a fight!' But no, if it comes to a fight you've already lost. The power of words is set the situation, to start wars, to stop wars, to manipulate. Wars are hard to settle. (just look at the middle east.) But do you know how many people have wisely used words (morally or amorally) and gotten rich off these wars? You don't get rich in a war by fighting it you get only get stabbed.

In an army a thousand men who wields the most power?

To look at it a different way: So, you'll take the power of a mighty sword to battle? Maybe you'll get famous or maybe you'll get dead (or more probably neither.) At the very least you'll probably get a minor wound. In close combat most grunts do in a prolonged action.

Where will I be? Not a hero, not dead, but read by all--I'll be the reporter who writes up all your exploits. Whether you succeed or fail, tragedy or comedy, I'll make sure it's a good story.
