purple_shadows
I dance with death And I am immortal We have one of those "friends with benefits" kind of deals Just not in the way you might expect You can't kill me, because I am not afraid With death on my side I can overcome all obstacles Conquer all who would dare to oppose me He will not let me down easy My time to die is between death and I So come world and give me all you've got You cannot beat me I already know my fate I have made my own destiny I am not afraid to die I am an immortal I dance with death And death keeps me alive

Zariah
I like how this poem is created around personifying Death as though he were a male. It's strong and the narrorator is very determined with his perspective.

Quincunx
A vivacious sentiment-- --yet it annoys me that I cannot remember where you borrowed "friends with benefits" from (borrowed nicely, with quotation marks) and that untraceable reference does something to set the mood of the poem. Help, please!
reverie
Not sure of it's origin either...but, think that the "friends with benifits" thing is so deeply imbedded in popular american culture now, that it might be considered public domain. Still not sure though... rev...
Peredhil
Wikpedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friends_with_benefits - contains strong language) has the definiton, which a dinosaur such as myself didn't know. Now that I know the term, the poignancy of the poet's dance with Death deepens exponentially.
Sweetcherrie
After reading the definition, the poem feels even stronger. And I already thought it was good - Sweetcherrie
The Portrait of Zool
The phrase "Best friend with benefits" was popularized a few years ago in Alanis Morissette's pop song "Head over Feet".

Hmm, interestlying enough, a few months before we got together, my-then-soon-to-be-girlfriend at the time, wanted me to pay especially close attention to the lyrics of this song... I'm a little dense sometimes, so pretty much, I never got the hint. I only realized what she trying to tell me well long after we started going out together... this memory brought you by dreamlost productions rev...
