Sweetcherrie Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Ok, I'm back in Paris, and will be using the school Internet again. I would like to get back to the chat, problem is that I'm behind a firewall from school. I had an adress for a webbased IRC, but I've lost it, and mIRC won't run because of the firewall Does anybody have any solutions for me, please! - Sweetcherrie
Valdar and Astralis Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 As Deg posted in the Minstrell Hall: http://www.polarhome.com/cgi-bin/chat/irc.cgiJust change the username to your name, and the server to:irc.galaxynet.org
Sweetcherrie Posted February 23, 2005 Author Report Posted February 23, 2005 Can I see the Minstrel Hall? Anyways thanks for posting an answer, I've tried connecting through this link and the info, but than I get the following messages: *** Welcome to CGI:IRC 0.5.4 (2004/01/29) *** Looking up irc.galaxynet.org *** Connecting to irc.galaxynet.org [63.223.67.238] port 6667 *** An error occured: Connecting to IRC: Connection timed out (60 seconds) Does this mean I will be IRC-less untill I have a different provider. Or does anybody know a way around the firewall? - Sweetcherrie
Tanuchan Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Sweetcherrie, the Minstrel Hall is visible just for full members. As for IRC... sorry, can't help you as I use mIRC... but probably someone here may have ideas. *hugs* ~Tanny
Degenero Angelus Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 You could try another Galaxynet server, such as any of the ones in the drop down menu on the side of Galaxtnet, instead of using irc.galaxynet.org
Akallabeth Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) http://www.legion.net.nz./cgi/irc.cgi I used this for a while as an online irc client. It's not fancy, but it may work. Just change the user name and channel name. The server's good. Also, here's another galaxynet server, one that i've found to be reliable. online.be.galaxynet.org EDIT: I stand corrected. That IRC server will automatically send you to a different one which is quite reliable, at least for me. Thanks Deg. Edited February 23, 2005 by Akallabeth
Sweetcherrie Posted February 23, 2005 Author Report Posted February 23, 2005 Now I get in, and am immediately thrown out again It is reassuring to see that the people are still there though I will keep trying, but untill then... - Sweetcherrie
Quincunx Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 If you're immediately thrown off of the server, change servers. If you're immediately thrown out of the channel, that ip is on the channel ban list and we need to start swapping PMs in order to fix it.
Sweetcherrie Posted February 24, 2005 Author Report Posted February 24, 2005 Deggy has been trying to help me last night, but unfortunately my school seems really desperate to keep their students to studying. So I have given up, for now, and will be rejoining you on the chat in may when I'm back at my parent's house for a week. - Sweetcherrie
Valdar and Astralis Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 You could also try fiddling with the port number. 6667 dosn't connect occationaly for me, but 6669 usually works.
