Gwaihir Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 There's nothing much aesthetic about being quite ascetic. But it's even worse if you also want athletic. 'Cause if you want athletic, Well, that’s quite aesthetic, But if it's an ascete you dream to be, Then if you must, Well one can be an athlete too. Would make you more ascetic to be quite athletic, But skinny hungry starved and running hard, Simply Isn’t quite aesthetic!
Cyril Darkcloud Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 * Drops his usual seriousness to have a bit of fun. * There is a pleasure in the musical light humor of the rhyming of aesthetic with ascetic and let’s not forget athletic with their syllables of three accompanied by the rhyming of long E’s on the back half of athlete and ascete. The concept is quite clever and I do believe I’ve never offered a critique of so athletic an aesthetic as one finds within this piece. But any good critic must also be ascetic, knowing when the time to stop has come. And so before this gets pathetic I’ll refrain from running on and simply make my point: Nicely done! Thanks for an entertaining read. Keep writing!
