Back to reality

So, after 4 quarters at the college, they are sending me back to the highschool. I don't know about all of you, but I hate highschool. I left for a reason, a very good one actually. And just when i thought I had escaped, they had to dangle 3 required credits in my face that I didn't have the capablity to take at the college. Anyways, my little dose of angst for you guys.

Back to reality, back to the void

Dulling the senses, numbing the insides

Back to not being myself anymore

Turn the sound up to ignore

Back to the memories, back to the pain

I don’t have to be there to know it’s the same

Back to the smiles that don’t reach my eyes

Although it’s not because I haven’t tried

Back to high school, back to hell

Just when things were working so well

Oh Honey, I am SO sorry. The best thing about High School at the time was graduating - it is such a distorted society, driven by hormonal hell.

The contrast between the relief of escape and being sucked back in just makes it totally worse. :(

*huggles long and hard.*

High schools often seem like the most low level prisons, in terms of the social setup...partial confinement mixed with lots of cramped hormones and unsatable desires - *hugs* to you, just get through it all. At least you know that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

As for the poem, the line, "Turn the sound up to ignore," is really, really awesome at capturing what you're talking about. I swear I love that line to death. And with, "Back to the memories, back to the pain/I don’t have to be there to know it’s the same," the rhyming/syllabic structure goes really well, these lines pull of the rhymes seemlessly.

Oh dear,

High school sucked! Theydid the same thing to me when i tried to get out early, i was lucky enough to get through and go to college! Don't Worry though...when you do finally get away from it, you will find in the midnight hours when your thoughs stream back, you will be thankful its all over.

Then a whole new adventure starts.
