YanYanGanaffi Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Well, I found out that unlike the old saying 'tragity comes in threes', mine come in randomly numbered bunches. First off, prospective g\f tells me, "I want to be friends." We all know what that means. Eh, oh well. Next, my van dies on the side of Interstate 10, blowing a freeze plug. Not good. My dad, who came to pick it up, forgot the key, so he had to break the steering column and hot wire it. This translates into 'my new van key is a flat head screwdriver.' Thankfully, we got the freeze plug replaced. Then, I get injuried at work. It isn't anything simple like a sprained ankle or jammed finger. No, that would be too easy. I got a hernia. *beep*ing lovely. So, after telling my supervisor of what happened, he gave be a form to take to the clinic that my work deals with. No problem, right? Wrong. Unforunately for me, the clinic was closed for the day. I had to wait until today to go to the emergency room at St. Vincent's. Well, apparently today was 'crackhead day' because there were at least three in the waiting room. I heard 'that's po-po' (slang for police) indicated in my direction. Any who have seen a pic of me know that, yes, I look like a cop. After sitting there for an hour and a half, I finally get called in. Yippee. So, I'm sitting there and find out I have to have an ultrasound. I'm like,"Okay." Then they inform me of where they want to do the ultrasound. That's when I start to worry. Given the fact that it was two VERY beautiful nurses who were performing the ultrasound, not embarrasing myself and them would be difficult. Thankfully, I am really good at meditating, so no problems 'arose' from the situation. That done, I have a few tests done. One was a blood suger test. I think nothing of it until I here in the hallway," His blood suger is 231!" Lovely. The doctor informed me a little while later that I have type two diabetes and that I need surgery to fix the hernia. So, now I get to miss three days of work, get a bunch of perscriptions filled, and go under the knife in a few days...Needless to say, this has been a less then steller week...

I know when things go downhill like that it can feel like the whole world is crashing down around you! But, the best thing about having life suck you to the bottom of the crud pit is that there is only up to go from there, right? That make you feel any better? No? Yeah, it is a 'typical feel good line'. LOL http://www.themightypen.net/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif But, on a more sincere note I truly wish you well. I hope your surgery goes smoothly and that you will recover with little pain and be feeling up to par in no time! I'm sorry about your van, I hope that will be a speedy repair for you as well. About the surgery though, at least you get cool drugs and hot nurses, right? *grins* About the potential girlfriend...I'm tempted to spout out another typical feel good line about other fish in the sea and what not, but I"ll spare you! *grins* Perhaps one of those hot nurses will be single and you'll be glad you look like a cop and are unattatched! I hate when girls say that dreaded 'let's just be friends' line. Pisses me right off. As for the other stuff, I don't know much about... although I have had a car explode on me in different manners multiple times. My brother had a hernia, which he said sucked. In other words, best of luck, and hopefully things will start looking up from here on out... ^.^

I get a ticket the night of Thanksgiving driving down to the inlaws for turkey dinner.. There goes 200 dollars.... Well then I get a bill from the hospital physician saying I owe them money.. Funny. I thought Military had 100 % Medical.. Wait. When your own base's ER is closed and you have to go into town.. Then you must pay.. =| So then Wednesday Night my g.fs car goes to crap.. Well. I go to fix it on Saturday. Took longer then I thought, so she misses work.. and what happens. I think I fixed it till the clutch goes completely out in an intersection at rush hour.. Not too bad. Ill just get out and push it right? Nope. Its stuck in gear. So after fighting with it, I get neutral and push it outta the way just to have to towed by a friend to a shop cause I tried 4 different Tow Companies, they dont answer or well 1 hung up on me.. Then a cop stops by, well he just leaves and no one comes back.. So yay! Now we are down to no car, she has work and class tomorrow morning and it looks like cabs for all!
reverie Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 (edited) To Tasselhoff... Err, No... No. you do not have to pay that medical bill...provided you are U.S. Active Duty service connected. Take that bill back to your post clinic, find your Military HMO representative i.e. TRI-CARE etc, and have them pay the bill or reimburse you for it. Prescriptions can also be reimbursed but you may have to mail them off somewhere. The only reason you would not have to pay is, if and only if you commander determines that your injury/illnesses was not in the line of duty... However, if this had occured you would have been notified of this DIRECTLY by your commander or chain of command. The only thing that ER should have asked you is what Military Medical Region you are assocaited with i.e. ARMY: TRI-CARE North/South etc... This is because your Geneva Convention Identification Card functions as an medical insurance card in off post medical facilities... If all else fails and you are not reimbursed for the bill, then you can deduct this expence from your income tax. However, with your tax-advantaged salary, good luck beating the standard deduction. rev... Edited December 5, 2004 by reverie
