dragonqueen Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 All behind a veil of glass A perfect prophecy come to pass. Figures moving round and round All in silence, not a sound. Crystal pawns within a game Not a one to bear a name. A shot, a tear, a pen, a rose. Sweeping past in eloquent prose. A final blot, to put the end A final crack and none to mend. All behind a veil of glass None of this shall come to pass. New line: Silence heard 'round the world.
cryptomancer Posted April 13, 2007 Author Report Posted April 13, 2007 Silence heard 'round the world, Echoes of deep dissent, Marching on the eave of war Its joy for hate been spent. I walked the halls of society The voice of common sense Yet in the veil of mistrust Hatred was the best defense So deftly I played the game of cards, So gently the house I built, So in the eve of civil unrest I could justify the blood I spilt. "Gently cut the swinging vine"
Norman Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Gently cut the swinging vine Use it as a rope, The noose around tightens neat And victim loses hope. Mark the quarters, strap the knife Slip it gently through the cloth Nail the pins to cure the skin Keep the bones for broth. (a bird of air and thermal waves)
Kikuyu_Black_Paws Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 A bird of air and thermal waves, Rustles cross the sea-shore, Cackles wildly to itself, whispers secrets to itself, never listens to itself, Ever mutters "Nevermore." Yes, it took a dear old leaf, From that Raven's paper book, Ever cackles to itself, whispers secrets to itself, never listens to itself, Casts a fond and fiery look. There, it sees the Hunter now, Craving Phoenix for his reward, Now it cackles to itself, whispers secrets to itself, never listens to itself, And flutters gamely from the Lord. All bragging rights are shattered now, The poor lord detests grim, That bird that cackles to itself, whispers secrets to itself, never listens to itself, And got the best of him. -------------------------------- Next line: Chaos, Panic, and Disorder...
Guest Phoenix Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 Chaos, Panic and Disorder sat down to have some tea. they ordered jam and buttered scones, and rounded then on me. "avoiding us?!" accused the crowd joined now by Spite and Lust. "emotions keep you sane!" cried Wrath, waving his jam-smeared crust. i watched them all parading, secure behind my shields. sporadically serenading as they guzzled down their meals. i'd won them all at some point my skin still bore the scars, but now the lure of silence was stronger than the stars. disorder moved the butter to five minutes past three. Panic was playing havoc with my suitors more than me. so they all fought each other, my Chaos winked at me, and as the entertained themselves we sat and drank our tea dandelion butterflies kiss the breeze
Kikuyu_Black_Paws Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Dandelion butterflies kiss the breeze, As that grinning cat lazes in the sun, And there I sat a pondering of old times done and by, As the caterpillar crept up just for fun. The rabbit was off chasing his ever worried thoughts, And I daresay that the Jester is at tea, But I can not go back through that tiny little door, I'm out of that dear bubbly that said "Drink Me". So I'm stuck here just a little in a tiny little fix, I can't go back nor forward now I'm here, For you see, I'm just so sleepy, I think I'll take a nap, And then I'll consider getting into gear. So I'm going to take a nap now, can't you get a hint and scat? There is much for me to finally dream about, So I'm lying back into the grass so soft and warmed up now, It's my head you're in, time's up I say, get out. --------------------- Various verbal vandalisms of an organic origin
Guest Phoenix Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 various verbal vandalisms of an organic origin oscillate vociferously over the view, obfuscating viewers in vile verisimilitude, obdurately overbearing in oath-taking obituaries. vying violently to voice valedictory verse. valkyries veil their vassal on into the void - in vain, alas, the vanguard vaunts like vikings - no option but obey the ordinance, and vanish. vesting in osmosis a vague odour of oregano or was it vanilla...? hee that was fun < the blackness begs my soul>
Kikuyu_Black_Paws Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 The blackness begs my soul to dance, As the gathering dusk replies To setting sun's lost, fading voice, With a thousand whimsical sighs. I join my hands with that of Night, And swirl a tight minuet, As death's gallant players twine and twirl, A ghostly lord's duet. Stars circle 'round me as the heavens decend, A planet swirls on its way, Magnificent space storms of sapphire and jade Shroud even the brightest of day. Night gives a bow and kisses my hand, Our dance together has ended, And he escorts me down to the place of the living, Where none before have landed. A secret place, he bids me audieu, Where night finds a voice and a heart, Then in a chariot drawn by fire steeds, Back to my body I'm brought. <Wail to the desert a Dirge of Droughts>
GeldrinHor Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Wail to the desert a Dirge of Droughts, scream to the sun, "come blast my hide", clear your own thoughts of all doubts, Call to the ocean for the Queen has died. "Where shall I go now" your baked mind crows, "It's Hell on Earth, and Purgatory's nigh" jump into heaven 'fore the hot wind blows, Down to the depths where the demons die. Cool blue emotions, soothing the burns, love wraps your heart in a silk cocoon. wrapped in a blanket as Moonlights mourns, saved by the breath of Nature's boon. hmmm -Yo Ho Ho, and a bottle of Rum- this is the line Have at it, me Hearties! Avast ye, scurvy Dogs!
Kikuyu_Black_Paws Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of Rum, Dance 'round crazily beneath the blue sun, We're all a bit tipsy out here on the deck, So we'll prattle and sing and drink like heck. Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of Whisky, Beneath in the waves the dolphins jump briskly, And those who're still standing hiccup as they laugh, Not thinking at all about the dear Captain's wrath. Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of Pain, The Captain's not happy and there's much to be gained, Lash with the 'nine-tails, ye scurvy scum, And ne're think again about a bottle of Rum. ---------------------- YES! That was amazingly fun! Ok, here's the new line. I slammed the piano bench down in the dust
dragonqueen Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 I slammed the piano bench down in the dust And furiously sat down to play, My fingers danced over invisible keys, Picking out a melody heard only to me. They gathered round and stared, bemused onlookers one and all. I shouted at the page turn, But none stepped forth to do the deed. The dust flurried up around my feet, As I thumped pedals maniacally. The sweat began to fly at the accelerando, While my fingers flew ever onward. Slow down, they said, you'll hurt yourself. What in heaven's name are you doing? But I plucked notes out of the air, And they saw no ebony and ivory. A madman, they muttered. Get some help. I shook my head, pounding away. Madness, it might have been, But I could not stop for the life of me. The music possessed me, The muse seduced me, And I sat, on my piano bench, Going mad in cut time.

Mynx Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 The white was everywhere The world was lost We stood and watched The coming frost We'd fought the beasts For many a year They preyed on our children Preyed on our fear The bomb had been Our last defence Not ours? Not theirs! Was the consent They drew the line We stood in the tower Pushed the button Our finest hour? The white was everywhere The world was lost We'd won the war But at what cost? New line - A reference for the rest of us
Kikuyu_Black_Paws Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 (edited) "A reference for the rest of us?" I quoted, "Aye," my companion replied, "But...what exactly is it supposed to do?" "Just read it before you die." So I took this 'reference' back home with me, Along with his cryptic message, Sheesh, you'd think for one moment he, Could not wish for darker visage. I threw it up onto a dusty shelf, Ignored it for a while, And then, on my death-bed, surrounded by wealth, I reached forward without a smile. "Bring me the book on the top dresser there!" I wheezed with a premonition dire. And when it was laid in my hands with a care, I made a silent prayer. I opened the book to the first title page, You've waited till near death, haven't you? Well, my deepest pity on all your race, There was so much for you to do. The time you needed was before you died, Not near and not after, you fool, So here is what you should have tried, Not fleeting my golden rule. Beneath your feet lies the greatest bomb, Equivalent to one-hundred atomics, Had you been young it would now be gone, But you've ruined it all, you lummox! Ah well, at least I'm dead. You never knew that, by and by. So say farewell to the world and all your dear friends, I'll see you where spirits lie. This was odd, but hey, just got over being on sleep medicine for the last 24 hours. I'm a little fruit-loops! New line: The Tree of the Dead rustles Edited May 2, 2007 by Kikuyu Black Paws
Quincunx Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 I'm a little fruit loop short and stout this is my handle, this is my spout-- wait, wrong setting. As you were.
Kikuyu_Black_Paws Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 "As you were," the Thief Lord said to his men, They all relaxed and took breath again, And the tallest among them swept down his eyes, Looking about at this great host of spies. "Gents, you all know me as one of the best, As your ruler and Thief Lord, the King of the Jest, And though you may wonder from time to time, I will allow no faults, not even mine." His glare called shivers from every scalp, As he looked at each veteran, junior, and whelp, But one man stood up, a challenge he growled, Ignoring the fact that the Thief Lord now scowled. "I tried to be fair," he said with a sneer, "But it seems the stupid don't think much of fear." "Prepare yourself, Thief Lord," the challenger cried, And mere seconds later that challenger died. It happened so quickly that none looked around, Until his body was lying there on the ground, And then with a shout there arose such a din, That not even the sharpest could dare take it in. The Thief Lord stood up, took his knife with a sigh, "Now you know that to challenge me is to verily die, I allow no mistakes, not even my own, And that is why I have kept my throne." New Line: One sad face among those cheery
Guest Phoenix Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 one sad face among those cheery. tired of the will of the world, and weary. head held in hands shaking with age beyond the years written in destiny's page. one bright face among those tired. celebrating full strength, so wired. laughing louder in desperation, trying to hide the sheer exhaustion. one calm face among those crying. resting at last, past all the lying. wrapped in deaths arms, the warm embrace bringing a smile at last to her face. <believe in hope>
Mardrax Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 believe in hope out there it dangles don't grasp it, clutch it get entangled let it shine and let it spangle for it will be there always ~ A new entry on the playlist
GeldrinHor Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 (edited) "A new entry on the playlist" quips the destitute DJ, "Rockin your Sox off, by the Plastics" Sitting back in his crackerbox booth, Josh really lets one rip, as his insides recall the great flaming burrito he had for lunch. Too tired, from all his restless wanderings the last few nights, he slips back in his chair a little too far and begins to tip over, reaching out for anything he flips on his mike just in time for the whole west side of town to hear him declare...."Oh Shit!" followed by a loud crashing sound. Then, due to dislodging the record he had been playing, that vocalization is immediately followed by nearly 6 minutes of dead air as Josh is out cold on the floor and under the desk in his micro-booth. Finally, one of the oncoming members of the morning zoo walks into the station, hears the dead calm quiet going out over the airwaves and rushes into the booth just in time to smack Josh in the head as he was coming to. **THUD** arghhhhhhhh....is the last sound that goes out over the airwaves before Josh comes to the realization that he is just another unemployed radio personality in a world gone wrong. --"There's NO place like Burbank"-- Edited May 8, 2007 by GeldrinHor
Mardrax Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 (edited) There is no place like fair Burbank Where all the films that ever stank were all produced, it seems Where all the men of general's rank in aircraft hangars cold and dank heeded Locks with gleams on Cali sunshine faces In Toyon shadows grow strange places, and legless farmers too have aspirations and walk the Walk of Fame - So if you want these kind of dreams it's Californication. ___________ Codebox spoiler acronym (and yay for randomness! ) Edited May 9, 2007 by Mardrax
Kikuyu_Black_Paws Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 The Codebox Spoiler Acronym, ...What does that exactly mean? Is it a brand new cashmier cloak, Or a sword with sparkles and gleams? Is it a spider, covered in lint and fuzz, A 'dragonic'-jester with bells, Or even a jumping excited fan, That blurbs the end of tales. Is it a library without books? A cookbook on top of a fish, Is it a computer with no screen, A partially eating salmon dish? What's with fish in this poem? They've popped up at least twice. So to give you a break, for goodness sake, I'll finally be nice. Goodbye fair readers, my poem ends, So that you don't all go mad, Despite the fact that most of you are Already, it would be sad. New line: What's New at the Very Merry Seamstress' Shop? ha ha ha ha ha....*low cackle*
Mardrax Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) "What's new at the Very Merry Seamstress' Shop?" We used to shop and eat and drop and pop. 1815, oh if time could stop, it should have stopped there, yes I would swap those days for this these, these are a flop. With screaming death metal and fast hip hop, when there were no taxis or motorbike cops. We used to sit sowing or play with spin tops. But gone are those days, now I can but sob: "My friends all died but remember that line What's new at the Very Merry Seamstress' Shop?" This grew a bit too much for this section, so the complete version can be found here in the Scarlett Pen Edited May 11, 2007 by Mardrax
