This evokes memories of diverse things such as Lloyd Alexander and Final Fantasy - which is an odd mixture but fun. Welcome back - it's nice to see you post.

I can't remember who wrote it or even the name, but it was took place in a similar setting using a long column troops in a valley during the nights as a metaphor... i will look for it and send it to you if I find it... rev...
