The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

Katzaniel slithers into the room, glancing from side to side every so often and ducking to avoid Peredhil, Ozymandias, Gwaihir, the other Guild Leaders, anyone at all with any power over the guilds, in fact really almost anyone at all.

"First off," she whispers, "the title... I was forcibly told that I must preface at least one of my posts while gone as such. I was also sworn to silence on who's making me. Anyway, I one-upped him with a thread, so I've done my duty and can go on about my business."

Finnius walks by and Katzaniel splays herself against the wall until his footsteps fade away. Looking around with growing concern, Katzaniel resumes. "The business at hand, then... Ayshela's finally gone! Quick, now, y'all need to apply to the guild and if we can get the black market dealings done quickly, I can pass you all through: Underage, Male, Bald, Non-Member, whatever your barrier... if you've got enough cash, come on down! Just make sure you apply this week... and quietly!!"

The tigertaur abruptly turns and affects nonchalance, walking at a decent pace down the street and in the opposite direction from Valdar, who arrives at the scene to spot Katzaniel ducking into the Greenroom. He surveys the gathered crowd for a moment as they dissapate before his eyes. What was that all about? he wonders, going after his fellow guildleader only to discover the Greenroom empty. Shrugging his shoulders, he forgets all about it...

:P

The fictional promises made within this post are property of the StoryWeaver Guild and are to be used for promotional purposes only. Clip this and bring it in to receive a 20% discount on your black-market membership! Erm.. that was a lie, too.

Cryptomancer stands in the dissapating crowd, looking quite stunned, removing his hood he rubs a hand over his very shiny bald head.....

"Wow, Bald males have difficulties entering the guilds, this could be a good opportunity."

He starts to walk for the door, before stopping suddenly, "guilds, where are the guilds?"

OOC: Seriously, the guilds are the Pen's answer to boredom upon reaching full membership (gives you a new goal, which is to rise in the guild or guilds of your choice) while allowing one to work on and better their skill in a given area, with other talented writers of that genre, and even promoting some healthy competition between the three guilds. Some mentionable side effects are: Something to look forward to at reaching Page, as that is when you can view and contribute to the guilds for the first time; Something to look forward to at reaching QuillBearer, as that is when you can apply and become a member and begin to rise in the ranks; Another place to challenge yourself; Another place for feedback; A place to plan fun and interesting events (the Carnival was brought to you by the guilds). They are divided basically where the Assembly room, the Conservatory and the Banquet Room are divided: Storytelling (StoryWeaver's Guild), Roleplay (Alliance of Vagabonds & Vanguards) and Poetry (Articulate Artisans of Alliteration). They are still in their growing stages and so some may recognize my description as being a bit lofty ;) but it's our main goal for the guilds and I can see that not too far in the future, when our guild membership has increased somewhat, the guilds will be serving their intended purpose.

I'm sure you already realize that age, gender and amount of hair really means nothing, but you do have to be a member, you have to have reached Page. However, Page is not a difficult rank to achieve if you are involved and clearly trying. If that is the case it is simply a matter of waiting for the promotions to roll around.

In your particular case, cryptomancer, I expect that I will see you hanging around the guild halls soon enough.

Edit/PS: There is an FAQ on this coming soon. I stole some of the planning dialogue on that to stick in here, and hopefully it satisfactorily answers your question. If you have any more, or anyone else does, feel VERY free to ask here, since it will help us write a more useful answer to the question before we put it in the FAQ.

Katz already answered Crypt's question perfectly, on where the guilds are and how to get there, but I thought this would be a perfect time to get the full reason for the guilds (which Katz already mentioned most of, actually) all in one place.

The rest of the purpose (and the reasons they were founded to begin with) behind our guilds, as well and succinctly said by Ayshela:

They're a place to refine your skill in your genre of choice in a more intensively focused atmosphere (provided we can get enough people to DO this;) ) and a place for the membership to find purpose beyond rank advancement.

To echo Katz, all questions are welcome.
