Shaking his head slowly, Lamont stood up. Straightening his bathrobe, he picked his glass of water off of the windowsill and carried it over to Rena; he walked slowly, and with his hands slightly parted, as a gesture of peace.

Stopping by her side, he squatted down and made comforting noises.

"Shhh. Shhh. It's alright, my dear. They're not here. Actually, they don't know you're here. It's alright. Besides, even if they do come, you know that security would tell us."

When she finally raised one tear soaked eye to meet his gaze, he smiled gently and held out the glass of water.

"Here, drink this. It's not a strong as some of the medications, but sometimes a glass of good, cold water can do the trick."

Jammeez approaches the cowering and whimpering Woof. "Aww, poor doggie! Wanna treat? Huh? Do ya, boy? Ya wanna yummy scooby snack?" Jamz holds a wrinkled white paper bag in the crook of one arm, and holds something out to Woof in her other hand. She backs away slowly, luring the hapless inmate who-knows-where... http://www.themightypen.net/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif

Aic.

That's what the orderlies called him.

It was an ancronym for a web site.

But he didn't mind.

They let him have his DVD's.

And they let him out when he bagan to rap.

A Beastie Boys song with his own lyrics:

"12 monkey, those funky monkeys.

Too absorbed in her fright and hysterics, Rena fails to notice Lamont approaching. When he speaks, Rena tenses, but calm words and a soothing voice convices her this one may not be part of the conspiracy. Still, you can never be too careful.

Rena can hardly believe her ears when the poor fool tells her they don't know she's here. As if. Oh well, it's a harmless delusion. Rena accepts the glass of water and nods her thanks, but keeps her eye on Lamont. There's still a mite of suspicion in the back of her mind.

"Water's the only med you can trust...the rest of them, who knows what they could do to you...all that medical garble...can you poison water, I wonder..."

Of course, Rena can't help but be suspicious, but her ramblings are tamer now. Despite the possibility of poison, Rena sips the water.

"Suppose it's not poisoned...you're not one of them, I guess...it wouldn't be to their advantage to have me calm and trusting..."

Itchy notices Jammeez "stealing" his dog and runs over. "HEY! That's MY dog! You leave him alone!"

Jammeez just grins wickedly and asks, "Watcha gonna do about it?"

Itchy responds by summoning "Lieutanant" Eyremon..."Lieutenant! Arrest this woman for lewd and shrewish behaviour and FOR TRYING TO LURE MY DOG AWAY SO SHE CAN DO SOMETHING MEAN TO HIM! General Napoleon! Rally the troops! This means war!" :woot:

<_< For a moment when Itchy starts yelling for backup, Jammeez is furtive, certain that she's going to get caught...she does once in a while, you know. But she is clever and can take care of herself. She is rarely ever in trouble for long.

Then, that loony, Eyremon, doesn't "see" her, and starts yammering about lollipops...the gleam returns to her eye, and with one last shake of her "treat" at the rapt Woof, she tears off down the hall, looking back to see if Woof - or anyone else - is pursuing. :P

Dustin sees all of this going on and is beginning to doubt ever coming here. These people are much crazier than himself. Then he sees his wolf again, and tells himself that no matter how much these people are obviously crazy, deep inside he is just as bad. Still, he doesn't feel like getting to know any of them any better just yet. He turns to one of the nurses and nods, and she takes him outside to grab his stuff and put everything in his room.

Ten minutes later, Rena is really beginning to trust Lamont when suddenly there is a scream from Dustin's room. A few of the orderlies go running, but the ones that stay make sure no one follows. Rena begins ranting again, although she doesn't object to Lamont's presence. Itchy, who's trying to follow Jammeez and Woof, is held back by an orderly who ignores his loud protests, simply pointing to another orderly to fetch the two missing patients. Only a minute passes before the nurse that had gone with Dustin returns, looking harried. Dustin trails her, holding a suitcase.

Mike pauses in his dance long enough to enquire of Dustin the source of the scream. "I thought at first that it was a young girl screaming her love for me. But sadly, no young girls are around at the moment. I don't even see any young..."

"It was the blood-filled death of the lollipop nation! I saw it myself, the sun setting over the purple fields of lizard-men..."

"It was them!! They're here to get me! Help me, lead me away before they come to this room!" Rena grabs Lamont's hand, who tries to calm her down again to little success.

Finally, just as Jammeez and Woof are dragged into the room by a large black orderly, Dustin is able to speak. "I thought it wasn't real. I mean, I see things like it all the time. But the odd thing was, she saw it too." Dustin guestured to the nurse, who was now crying loudly and absentmindedly patting Woof's head. "It was a dead woman, spread out over my bed and ripped apart, bleeding... it was horrible, if I hadn't assumed that I was just seeing things, I might have screamed too."

There is a commotion among the patients, and a few nurses return to the common room carrying food trays.

"We're eating here tonight," says Ms. Triffle, taking control of things and sending some orderlies to guard each door. "We might still be in danger."

A pretty young nurse says fearfully, "How do we know it wasn't any of these people, Ms. Triffle?"

Ms. Triffle leans in and whispers something to the nurse. Dustin looks on curiously until Jammeez shouts gleefully: "It was one of ours!" An orderly tries to cover her mouth but the muffled sounds come out, "The police caught him leaving the scene, covered in blood!" Ms. Triffle turns, horrified. "This one has caused enough trouble tonight. Please give her some sleeping pills. And anyone else who wants to make this harder on us all." The woman glares at Jammeez and leaves.

An orderly, rather limp-looking, monotones: "Jammeez, I don't want to fight with you right now. If you can behave, I will not give you those pills."

OOC: As stated in the OOC thread, the first "day phase" has not yet begun, and roles have not yet been sent. Accusations will not officially begin until the second murder has been posted, at least 24 hours from now.

"You haven't been here long, Elena. But no fear of that. Before our patients come here, they must pass rigorous mental exams that prove them both insane and nonviolent. Quite aside from knowing each of these people very well, they have also all been assessed by qualified psychiatrists as being uncapable of such an act as must have been committed in that room. Don't worry. We shall all be safe from harm unti the police get here."

Itchy listens to the nurse speak this lame and pathetic platitude to the other nurse and wonders...Has she been taking all the "good" meds herself?

Aic walks through the room.

He is hunting.

After a moment the others observe what he is after, a cockroach.

It seems he is hunting for food.

He catches it and much to their disgust it looks like he will drop it down his throat and eat it.

But stops and says:

"I am not insane. I am a sane man fighting for his soul. "

He drops the cockroach on the floor and it skitters away.

Aic closes his eyes and watches a movie on the inside of his eyelids.

Itchy's hand flashes out, catching the cockroach before it can disappear under the furniture. He holds it up and looks at it briefly, before biting off its upper half. He crunches on it a bit, swallows, and thne smacks his lips. "Mmmm! Crunchy! Anyone else want the other half? Rena? Jamz? No? Ok." Crunch crunch. "Slimy yet satisfying. Sooo, when's lunch?" *burp*

I really do wish they'd allow us some Brandy, at least..., laments Lamont silently. His hand had lost all feeling five minutes ago now, but since her death grip on it seemed to calm poor, weeping Rena, he said nothing to stop her, and continued to murmur comfort.

One small measure of peace in here was valuable, especially now.

OOC: I editted the end of my last post. As Gnarlitch said, it was lame. I have a better excuse for none of you being suspected. Go back and read the last three paragraphs again before reading this please.

The night was long but relatively uneventful. The patients were commanded to stay in the common room, and anyone who tried to leave immediately discovered that the tougher orderlies had been posted as guards. More than once a patient was dragged back into the room and told to go to sleep. In fact, more than once Jammeez was dragged back. At first, few slept, but as the night wore on, most did. Dustin still kept mainly to himself, trying to convince himself to talk to the others but simply not desiring to know these strange people any better. There was some random shouting during the night, more often than not referring to some sort of war. Woof woke everyone up at four in the morning with a fit of barking, but it wasn't until an angry and unfamiliar voice on the other side of the door shouted for him to stop that anyone took notice.

A few minutes later, Ms. Triffle entered the room. Looking around to discover everyone was indeed awake, she cleared her throat to speak.

"The man responsible for the murder has been caught. The police have not released very many details except that he worked alone. Therefore, we will be going to the zoo today. In order to keep your minds off of the recent death of one of our number, we will leave right after breakfast."

She left, the guards were dispersed, and amid great commotion the patients got themselves ready for the day. After they ate, each group left with a couple of nurses for a different section of the zoo.

(if anyone wants to roleplay parts of the zoo visit, please do)

At noon, however, when the groups were to reassemble for a large picnic lunch, one of them could not be found. Dustin's group was missing in its entirety. A large search was conducted and the members were one by one rounded up, except their accompanying nurses. After more searching, their bodies were finally found in one of the zoo bathrooms. None of the patients could recall any information about who could have done it, just that one had gone in, and when she hadn't returned the other had followed. When she wasn't back within about a minute, the group had slowly scattered to all corners of the zoo.

As soon as this information was divulged, all groups were dragged back to the Institution. Everyone was locked up in the common room, except Dustin and his group, who were locked up separately in the dinner hall, and guarded even more strictly than the others. Ms. Triffle didn't even make a speech, although they could hear a muffled discussion through the walls, and then pacing for a long while before she must finally have left.

OOC: Accusations are now open, although I won't send out roles for another couple of hours because Tam is dragging me away. I swear it'll be tonight.

Damn! There are so many disassociative personalites in here, to say the least.

Then there are the multiples...My God, what has begun here?

Who started it?

Who can end it?

Lamont conitnues to sit against the wall and stare at nothing, far too anxious to sleep.

Rena huddles in a cornor of the common room, again. Feet drawn up beneath her on the chair, she whispers to herself about the latest developments in the conspiracy.

"Taking us to the zoo...what were they thinking? They must be part of the conspiracy. It's just luck that we weren't killed. But some were! It must be part of a bigger picture. I wonder what their aim is? Obviously the people here are part of the plot...first one death, then the others...and then locking me in here with a bunch of lunatics? It's obvious they want me "accidentaly" dead. Why else would they go to all this trouble? An elaborate scheme, just so they don't get their hands dirty...the mind of evil works in obscure ways. But why kill the others? Probably just to put me off my guard and convince me I'm not alone...but I am! Even now, I am in danger..."

Rena studies each occupant of the room, trying to fathom their secrets and decide which ones are part of the vast conspiracy against her. Is it possible they are all part of the conspiracy? No, some of them are obviously insane...incapable of being part of it. They are merely pawns, being manipulated by higher minds. But Lamont...he said they weren't here. But they were! They've revealed themselves! Either he was ignorant or part of the plot. Rena settles down to think on which, but she does it silently for once. At times such as this one can trust no one, and must keep everything to one's self. Of course, sleep is inthinkable of at a time like this. One of them is most certainly just waiting to murder her in her sleep. Rena keeps her eyes wide open throughout the night.

You can change me to:

People in asylums from movies.

Aic is doing his Barbara impression, and it's like butter:

"No, I'm sure he believes what he believes. He thinks whores are girls who hang out on 8th Avenue and stick needles in their arms. He knows whores aren't nice white girls from nice white families. He knows that just as sure as he knows his wife is at home cleaning the oven. Isn't that right Herbie? But what if he's wrong? What if his wife is out balling the insurance salesman? What if he doesn't know is ass from his elbow? What if he's just an asshole with power to lock me up? What if that's all he is? An asshole with power. "

Aic then looks at Rena.

He thought this movie had an asylum scene.

He leans over to her and wispers in her ear.

"It isn't paranoia when they REALLY are out to get you."

A vote for dragonqueen as Rena

Earlier at the zoo:

Jammeez is walking along at the tail end of the group as they meander to the primate enclosure. She nibbles at the contents of a small red box with a provencial maiden on the front. As her group gathers in close to the fence and gawks at the monkeys and apes, Jammeez climbs atop a boulder set in the walk behind them to get a better view over their heads. A cluster of chimps amble over to check out their new visitors, and she begins to hunch over and swing her arms, begins grunting and making noises in her throat. She starts flicking raisins from her box over the fence at the apes and, when they begin to respond, she lets out a scream that makes most of the group jump. Agitated, the monkeys begin to howl and jump around...then one of the nurses manages to get Jammeez down off the rock and escort her away from the enclosure. The other nurse herds the group after them. That'll be enough of monkeys for today...Guess we'll check out the cat-house next ;)

Too few clues...no-one in my wing has ever seemed to have the werewithal or desire to kill...except, perhaps for Rena, 'desperate times and desparate measures' have sadly driven people to worse...but Eyremon...I've often wondered...he lives his fantasies so completely...was he ever a soldier of some sort?

That could be troublesome, if things get much worse...

(OOC: Too few clues, ineed, but I've gotta vote on someone. I choose Eyremon.)

Woof slowly wanders around the dining room, sniffing around each patient.

When he arrives at Napolean though he hesitates...

"Grrrrr"

Lifting up his leg, Woof attempts to mark his territory but since he's wearing pants, succeeds only in creating a wet spot between his legs.

OOC Dean

Itchy sees Woof's actions..."You think so boy? Okay."

OOC: Vote for Napoleon/Dean here

EDIT: er, wait a sec. Last game I swore never to trust Nave again, and, so what do I do first vote of the next game? I follow his lead. I THINK NOT!

Itchy picks up a rolled up newspaper from on top of the table and smacks it against his hand loudly and gestures at Woof with it. "BAD DOG! You know not to growl at strangers or pee on the carpet! BAD DOG!"

OOC: changing vote to Nave instead of Dean. BadDeanBad! :D
